Like in this video, they all look mid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j48a5XynOY8

I've watched Tokyo street styles for years, and i feel like the Japaneses lost their sense of style.

I don't know if it's because of their economic collapse and they all became poor or what, but wearing a Rarufu Roren t-shirt and Levi's jeans just don't cut it in 2025.

No, anon was right, they overall dressed like shit, you were just looking at a small niche of fgashion enthusiasts in one neighbourhood and extrapolated that the whole country was like this.

They always dressed like shit because truthfully the men are quite ugly and not to mention short. The women are okay, but that's just because they're skinny/slim and always have been. But you put a white girl with a similar body type in these same clothes, and they'll always look better than these Asian women.

fashion is for normalfags and wiggers

as opposed to rich art school freaks that need to make a statement

You can buy those exact same things in Bangladesh and Bombay's local markets for less than $60, because that's where they come from, but are sold at 10 times markup in the first world.

your average japanese doesn't have better fashion sense. higher quality clothes are just more affordable and readily available in japan so the average person dresses a bit better than the west. but it's not because they have fashion sense its just economic reasons.

huh, did that just happen over night?

that's like saying italians have no real appetite for olive oil despite it being more affordable and readily available

No, it happened because postwar Japan had a bunch of american companies exploiting loopholes that got them subsidies if they grew their business within the attempted client-state in Japan, so they sent their best stuff there or grew some local branches to do only high-end procedures because more growth = funding that was worth more than the invested sums.
It's a known explanation for "muh superior japanese music vinyl pressings" : every other weeb will tell you that it's because the wiser and better educated japanese listener would not tolerate low-quality pressing. The truth is that Columbia and the like got subsidized to make their records as high-quality to a level that was worth far more than the operating costs and the consumers had no idea because their stereo systems at the time were ass.

the ratio of people who live breathe and sweat that stuff is higher in japan but the average citizen couldn't give much more of a fuck than here. high qual clothes are just cheaper and easier to buy there.
you notice how everyone in asia wears converse especially models like jack purcells that are considered dogwater quality in the states? its a completely different, higher quality shoe in asia and also cheaper.

is the right line of thought - albeit i would argue theyre more inclinded to think critically since, on average, cucked into a school/work uniform 24/7 where they have to be attentive. as opposed to americans can literally wear sweats wherever they go

disagree, japanese people are way, way more likely to feel shame if they look bad in public. there's more of a baseline standard.

They must have a different definition then because I’m surprised none of them are ashamed of how poorly they dress

You'd have to go to Bangladesh tho, and you'd have to pay me way more than the price of a shirt to do that.

idk, watching many of these, some have like $1500 salaries and say they spend $450 a month on clothes on average.
The price of clothes is not cheaper, but they must spend nothing on rent, like $500 for a 1 bedroom in the Tokyo metro area compared to $3K in NYC.

Thanks to economies of scale using modern container ships, transportation costs from anywhere in the world are next to nothing. There's no reason for clothes to cost as much as they do in first world countries when they aren't being manufactured in first world countries, nor the workers in those sweatshops in third world countries are being paid first world wages.
