Can someone please fucking help me, I ordered a waistcoat from walker slater, size 38, and it doesn't fit and I fucked up the return and I'm out $170.
My measurements are as follows;
Chest: 37.5 in
Overarm: 46.5 in
Approximate coat size: 38R
Coat sleeve inseam: 16 in
Neck: 16.5 in
Outseam: 39 in
Approximate pant size: 38
Hip/seat: 47 in
Shirt sleeves: 32.5 in
Waist: 37 in
Approximate shirt size: 16.5/32

How the fuck did a size 38 not fit me when my waist and chest size are ~38? It fit around my chest but I couldn't even button it over my big American belly. Please help bros.

Based on your sizes I can only recommend you lose fat.
>how can this fit my chest but not my waist
It's because your waist and hips and neck and other places in your body where fat accumulates are disproportionally large compared to your chest.

Try to stay away from waistcoats that have an overly tapered cut, especially those that are just v-shaped instead of taken in slightly at the centre. You could go for flat/square-shaped waistcoats that would result in maybe a boxier fit, but they could also have a back adjustor or two for the sizing. Note that I am also someone who made a couple of beginner mistakes with waistcoats, before. One was too tight and short, and the other was too loose and baggy. My other waistcoats fit me well, though.
