looking for an alternative to ANESSA Perfect UV Sunscreen Mild Milk

Maybe you are doing something wrong in your routine. This was invisible on me, left no residue or layer. Even tends to dry me out. It was recommended a few times in previous threads as well for this specific reason.

Guess you could go through youtube reviews where they apply sunscreens and show their face after 30 minutes or whatever

what strength are you using? lowering down may help. higher strengths is only really beneficial for acne. 0.025% cream is still good. ultimately do what your skin can tolerate. damaging your skin barrier does more harm than good.

You guys should check https://www.sunscreentester.com/the-results/

Methodology is not perfect, but indicates that;
1. Asian suncreens are weaker that Western ones on average. Especially Japanese ones. In vitro at least. And obviously people have been using some of these poor-reviewed ones just fine, no burning, etc. Perhaps interaction with sweat and sun activates the UV filter somehow. But surely it gives me a peace of mind that a lot of brands just simply block the UV without requiring some weird shit to happen first on your skin.
2. Physical suncreen can protect from UVA just fine. Physical filters don't automatically mean bad UVA protection.

australian sunscreen will always mog any other just due to the australian conditions. its not uncommon to have days with a uv rating of 10+ in the australian summer (there were a few 14+ days earlier this year) and they work perfectly. no other country has both the incentive or the means to make sunscreen with specs this high

Found this comparison of barrier repair products. Methodology is a bit suspect but it agrees with people's observation that Aestura and Illiyoon are not as good as it used to be. In addition to reformulations they probably reduce ceramide content and other expensive ingredients as cost-cutting measures.

The result also shows that Atopalm deserves it reputation.

- See a derm.
- If not I’d recommend HEPA air purifier, wash your beddings and towels more often with bleach, perhaps replace all of them especially pillows and towels.
- Take care of humidity and ventilation at home.
- A lot of things feed Malassezia. Avoid them. People had reported success with using MCT oil, because the usual recommendations like coconut oil feed the fungus.
- Switching antifungal regularly is also recommended. Try them all, zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, piroctone olamine, sulphur, etc.
- I used to do xylitol rinse. It works for me, even though scientifically the biofilm theory doesn’t make much sense.
- Other usual recs. Like more sleep, more exercise, more vegetables, more sun, etc.

Try xylitol rinse if you haven't. Many people, including me, swear by it. Dissolve a bit of xylitol in water, like a tablespoon in a cup of water. Pour it to scalp, face, and affected area. Wait a bit for a few minutes, or until dry if you want. Then wash it with shampoo or don't. Some people use higher concentration at 5-10%.
Not exact science. But it helped a lot of people.

Obviously you still need anti fungal shampoo/treatment. And try to make your routine as fungal (acne)-safe as possible.

I’m currently using Illiyoon. It works for dryness but doesn’t completely solve my redness. Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume supposedly can.
Thinking to try that or Atopalm MLE or Atopalm Panthenol Cream/Lotion. But they are quite a bit more expensive than Illiyoon.

>Not sure if I should just buy Bepanthen baby ointment and use it on my face. It has 5% panthenol.
I checked out the ingredients on that and the lanolin doesn't seem good for acne. For me personally anything really comedogenic breaks me out and no amount of tretinoin will mitigate that. Ymmv but it might be worth trying something simple like vanicream (or your existing moisturizer) and throwing in panthenol or cica serum if that helps with your redness. Sidmool d-panthenol has the highest percentage of any serum I think.

Because you're retarded?
I mean fine, you're lazy and want to use only 1 product that moisturize and protect from the sun. Better than nothing.
But that's hardly the best practice.

And people who care about skincare have night routine too. SPF protection is not needed there. Best to avoid extra unnecessary ingredients to avoid pore clogging and irritation.

SPF of this kind of products tend to be low too. And how about the UVA protection?

And you need to think about application and reapplication. The recommended coin-sized dollop? Are you sure your face can handle that much moisturizer? How about the reapplication every few hours?

Anonymous No.18556815 [Report] >>18556816

No. Cream as in sunscreen is just to prevent.
If you want to do more (and seems like you do), retinoids or glycolic acid should be applied in the PM routine because they are photosensitive themselves but also make your skin photosensitive. So if you use them you have to use sunscreen anyway or you will get burns on face when going out. Vitamin C is fine to be used in the morning (apparently it provides additional protection against the sun as well)

If you are new to this, get sunscreen and retinol and maybe cleanser to wash off sunscreen properly. See how it goes and if you can be consistent

Pretty much.
Some say vitamin C is useless and I think it varies from case to case. I only use it during summer when I'm getting a lot of sunlight.
Glycolic acid has more research data than vitamin C so I will leave it up to you which one to go for (or go for both!).
If you will be considering glycolic acid in the near future, get something like 7-15% glycolic acid content if it is your first AHA (preferably smaller bottle) and then when you use it up (and your skin adapts), go for the The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution or anything similar that is available in your region.

So I bought Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume. Imo it's effective at calming my skin. It's not so red any more.
It's more effective than my current Illiyoon. But it's entirely possible Illiyoon's formulation just can't stand SEA temperature. My room is pretty hot, no air conditioner. And putting it in the fridge makes it really thick and hard to
squirt/apply.

Cost-wise, Bioderma is more expensive than Illiyoon. And Ceradan is even more expensive than Bioderma. But Ceradan is not that moisturizing on its own, need extra product to moisturize. At least on my face. But it's entirely possible Ceradan has more ceramide content.

Unfortunately Bioderma seems to give me small whiteheads. I remember Cerave did the same to my skin. I will try using it for a month or so.

I'm really thinking to switch to adapalene. Perhaps my skin is one of those who simply can't adapt to tret. Even though I used to use it when I was young just fine.

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

And a way to have the biggest effect of course would be tret/adapalene/tazarotene.

I started out using it three times a week, then I moved to four times a week and two weeks ago I added in a fifth day and it caused the skin on my chin get wrinkled, red flaky and sting. I asked on reddit and they said you have to use tret every night and you can only use it 3 times a week after a year to maintain. Imo, this is a reddit meme. Based on some random paper that redditors don't understand anyways.
Personally I see many examples on the internet of people who got great results without daily application.
Everyone's skin is different.

If your skin can't handle everyday application, then don't. Of course, you can only say that your skin can't after trying daily application for months. Good chance that the side effects will subside. Personally I would pause tret if everything stings though.

Set specific goals first (better skin, more energy, hair health, whatever you're targeting), then look up what nutrients affect those goals that people are commonly deficient in, assuming you're not an epicurean psycho who eats beef liver/octopus/brazil nuts daily lol

Like everyone needs the basics - D3, magnesium, omega-3s (fish oil/flaxseed), zinc - these are common deficiencies regardless of YOUR specific goals.

But then I take saw palmetto for hair/DHT blocking, L-arginine + L-citrulline for circulation/blood flow, selenium for antioxidant support, etc based on MY specific goals. Don't just take 30 random things or rely on a multivitamin with shit-tier bioavailability.

tl;dr
start with the basics that almost everyone needs, then add specific supplements based on your goals.

need sunscreen, and then an oil cleanser to double cleanse the sunscreen, you should also use the benzoyl peroxide in the PM, try to space harsher actives.

Are you letting the BHA sit on the skin for a while before proceeding to other steps? Lastly, using it should depend on how dry/sensitive you feel, monitor that dont just power through with daily use.

Retinoids speed up cell turnover and they will help with acne. They won't prevent it though. For that, you need to look for root cause (usually related to lifestyle, environment you live in or something internal like hormones).

Your picrel will probably work on it's own if it is a foaming cleanser. Some people use cleansing oil before foaming cleanser as it works a little better together but imo it is as optional as toners; some say you need it, some say you don't.
And if you use a gentle hydrating cleanser (because there are people who bomb their faces with gazillion products a day and are extremely sensitive) like the green Cerave then it has not enough cleansing power to get rid of sunscreen on it's own I think. That's where cleansing oil will help. It is a good option for people with sensitive or irritated skin.

I meant that as a question, of course, as in, "How should one go about preserving one's physical youth as long as possible?"
Not sure why it took me this long to notice that typo.

trying to start caring more significantly about skincare beyond whatever random crap is on sale at cvs but i dont really know what im doing, is there any glaring mistakes in this purchase list?
the plan is, cerave foaming for my face in the morning and at night
the cerave lotion+sunscreen for the face in the morning (i will get body sunscreen once winter/fall ends)
the retinol for the face in the morning (should i do this twice a day?)
panoxyl creamy wash for my back at night (my plan is to just step out of the shower to do this since thats what i do to wash my face already, is that retarded? i know it needs to set for a few minutes so idk)
the vanicream lotion for body and face at night (should i get two different lotions for face and body if its only being applied before bed?)
im trying to stay relatively cheap for my first few purchases just incase one of these just dont work on my skin but im more than open to suggestions.
im also open to razor suggestions because ive been using this dogshit electric razor since forever and im sick and tired of it. ive heard good things about double edged razors but i have no idea which ones are cheap trash and which ones are overpriced scams.

idk why people assume no sun is the way of this thread. nobody says that. there are few people who say they dont go out or want to be a vampire but thats it. in general you need sun for other biological processes in your body, not only skincare
>>18573269
sounds like moisturizer is all you need. try different ones and see how it goes.
sometimes introducing anything will cause certain effects (like it did for you) because skin needs to adapt. there were anons in the past who had "purging" after introducing new moisturizer or exfoliator

no, unless its your first retinoid. then get something with lower concentration

wrong. its photosensitive so sun will render it non efficient. use at pm only

no need to leave shower just stop water if thats okay unless i did not understand

yeah certain actives work better if left for a few minutes on skin. i do that with salicylic acid wash
>vanicream lotion
if it works on your face thats cool, keep using it. i use cerave body lotion on my face. used to use cetaphil and lrp lipikar baume too

get sunscreen and cleanser first. do it for 2 weeks and see how consistent you can be. this will also prevent putting too many new things on your face at once. some people can get irritated or break out from that

I got these on sale and they're working better than the fancy natural soaps I bought. By better I mean they don't dry out my skin like crazy. Unless I'm missing something, they're more PH friendly and have a built in moisturizer. Is there some hidden chemical that makes these bad or is it just fear mongering because they have the scary name 'synthetic detergent bar' (smartly marketed as beauty bars).

Alright, this is my last idea. I'm going to stop taking melatonin to help me sleep. There's some anecdotal reports that it causes hormonal cystic acne in some people, which is basically what I've been having. Since it's a hormone supplement, it might have some kind of effect on the skin. Then again... it's just people posting on the internet saying "i took melatonin and then had acne," so who knows, though there is at least one legit case study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11079672/
I'll give it a couple weeks. If this doesn't work, I guess I'll contact my doctor. If they can't do anything... then time to go shopping for rope.

i think majority of people start thinking about body when they experience problems like bacne, redness, rashes, sunburn, dryness etc
if you dont experience any of this i wouldnt really bother doing anything, maybe getting body wash that has no sls/sles. but if you want to do a little more than that then first step would be probably using body lotion right after the shower to lock in the moisture. then you could consider an exfoliating body wash with BHA. leave it on for a minute or two - your skin will feel slightly smoother afterwards. dont use it too often or you will experience dryness.
>hands
well again you need to address issues you have. and even if its simple dryness its worth figuring out where it comes from (work conditions or soap you use at home etc).
if its work related then it depends on severity. some anons just used body lotion when they needed. a few others had to order special gloves and/or slug hands and put one time use plastic gloves before going to bed as part of their every day routine
>feet
if its about cracks/peeling skin then get urea cream 30% minimum and use pumice stone or some kind of feet scrubber, there was anon who recd some kind of metal one many threads ago. salt baths are also good for mine. dont forget to moisturize. you could also try slugging or putting urea cream on feet, then put on a plastic bag + a sock on top for the night though it might be uncomfortable

Tried adapalene because tret seems to trigger eczema/sebderm-like scaly irritation on certain parts of my face. I personally don't find it gentler than tret. If anything my skin is redder in general on adapalene.

Anyways I randomly tried to apply terbinafine cream on the scaly irritation spots, and it helps a lot. I guess tret weakens my skin so much that it's easier for my skin to develop such fungal conditions. It's not a whole face thing. Just a few spots.

I also tried dandruff shampoo btw on my face, and it made things worse.
