Unc Fashion
In a few weeks I’m turning 30. I’m a husband and father. I’ve managed to stumble my way into becoming a manager at a respected corporate firm.

In other words, I’ve sold out and become the normie I swore I’d never become.

Although I hate my job, I’ve made my peace with the death of certain dreams and I may as well play the part. Problem is I have no idea how to amend my fashion choices to match my current lifestyle.

In the past I’ve worn mainly workwear of a pretty boring flavour. Dark jeans, blundstones, French chore coat, leather and work jackets, Henleys and flannels. Now all the people I meet tend to wear something like prep, or ‘old money’, but of an extremely understated, conservative flavour. Most wear clothes with no or minimal logos in muted colour palettes.

Has anyone got any advice for this specific 30-something, upper-middle-class professional look? For reference I’m going to post the sort of things I’ve seen my colleagues wear.

You sound like you actually dress like a cool person. I've been close to C level people in my mid size companies and they don't dress any better than pawns, so I would just maintain the style you had. Just think more huckleberry vs instagram wokawar

Get some comfortable polo shirts so you can alternate between those and t-shirts when you're not at work. Get a nice analogue watch, or two. One with a brown leather strap and a metal one. Seiko is a good brand, Citizen is probably about as low as you want to go. Try out a few popular sunglasses styles and get a pair that suits your face, Aviators. Ray-bans, etc.

The rest of it is just about nice texture and fit. You've already admitted that the colour options are pretty muted, so your main avenues for expression are texture and fit.

I'm not sure if the blazers are fully back in style yet, but I suspect that they'll come back as the 2000s revival trends continue. I'm already starting to see late 2000s style workwear come back after years of smart casual workwear (late 2000s meaning patterned long sleeve work shirts, suit trousers, black and dark navy colours on women, etc)

You can do R.M. Williams instead of Blundstones. That's what I see CEOs in Australia wear.

I'm a Mexican that works with Indians and Chinese, and we all dress like that. You have a guide to straight up not get pussy, my dude. Actually successful white guys wear On Clouds, jeans, and Patagonia vests.

Keep dressing like you do now, but buy a Rolex or higher. There’s power in being the cool guy

the key is finding shit that you can mix and match without trying and itll always coordinate.
>black, brown or white shoes, matching belt (except no white belt)
>dark pants
>light colored (some solid, some simple pattern) button ups and polos
>sweaters that are a different color than any pair of pants
the real keys here are that everything should fit the same and it should all look newish. your silhouette will be almost the exact same if you're wearing the same number of pieces, no matter what they are, and nothing will look mismatched as long as you stick to one or two formality levels (i.e. no jeans and nice suit jacket, but jeans and a sport coat look fine as well as chinos and a suit jacket). just look at banana republic models and tone it down.
