>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bick4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them and rest them
How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush
>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.

I like commando soles because the stitching doesn’t come into contact with the floor or land you’re walking on.
I’ve also tried natural rubber outsoles and they’re much heavier and much more durable than what people seem to think.

Yes it’s atrociously pointless, ugly and pretentious.
maybe im ocd, but here is why i wont buy a 700 dollar pair of pnw boots: if you have a super nice pair of boots, it doesnt look right wearing them with a 30 dollar pair of levis or wranglers. so then you gotta buy a really nice pair of selvedge jeans. once you do that, you have to then invest in you upper half. you cant have amazing boots and jeans and wear a shitty mall jaqcket. so you gotta splurge on a 1,000 dollar horsehide jacket. i guess what im saying is, if u just have one really nice piece and cheap out on the rest of the outfit, it doesnt look right. but if everything is heritage , selvedge , horsehide , pnw boots, u look like a larper. so truly there is no winning

This is very true. In general I think it’s dumb to cheap out on shoes and boots because feet are the most important thing you should take care of. After you have a good pair of shoes (not necessarily pnw boots but also not red wings, fuck that shit: if undecided stick to humbler brands such as Rancourt and Astorflex) then you can pair them with nice vintage clothes which are usually great and long-lasting quality but also not expensive.

It's only awkward if you're the type to fuss around with them and don't put any visible wear on them. I grew up around dudes who wore the high end Red Wing loggers with really nice sole rebuilds and the like, and all they wore were Harley Davidson merch and stonewashed mallbrand jeans lol. As long as you coordinate things a little and put a little wear on your boots they'll look fine.

The final redpill is that you should only ever use non-calf as roughout leather. Otherwise always calf.
I will not abide by this ultimate truth but that's just because I'm unfortunately still bluepilled in some ways. But in the afterlife I'm sure everyone will either wear calf or roughout boots.

Is the verdict out on a decent engineer boot that won't break the bank? I'm in the market for a beater boot to fuck around with. Are the Schotts any good?
Never paid attention to my footwear until now. Brushed these after 7 years of use with a horse hair brush, applied saphir renovateur, and got new laces. How do I mask the fraying edges along the mouth? What dye/product do I need to blend the color?

Any advice on a good all around shoe that is nicely made, can be dressed up for a nice dinner, dressed down with jeans or chinos, is rebuildable but I can run if the situation demands? Not really, cheap engineer boots don't really exist anymore and they were never perfect or what is in style today if you wanted to go the used/ vintage route to score a deal.
Crush on retro is your best option for a budget engineer boot but they probably aren't going to last that long on a construction and materials standpoint and the dimensions are off on things like the shaft, they're super wide.

Steel shanks are the industry standard because they're more rigid and thus offer more support than leather or fiberglass. The only excuse I've heard for leather shanks is that over time a shank will wear into the insole and you MIGHT feel it underfoot on older boots. You're basically hedging your bet for comfort in the long run by dealing with a less supportive boot with a leather shank.

I have a vintage pair of Harley Davidson engineer boots, they got ruined by some weird glue in the insole though.

Is it possible for me to take a pair of leather work boots and have them resoled with different soles? I have no idea about any of this shit so don’t bully.

Japan chooses some weird makeups. I saw a guy wearing something similar a couple nights ago, black for the shaft and then some light brown reptile for the vamp. It's also weird to see White's in the wild for the first time in another country.

Are there any like casual shoes that aren't boots but look close enough to boots? I can't find nothing but streetwear looking gay sneakers or just the worst looking old man sketchers garbage

You can probably find some monkey boots with a sneaker sole or get a similar look with a wedge sole.

Actually I just have several questions now. How deep are the puddles you're stepping in? What about a low-cut shoe? What about chelsea boots? What's your point?
