Am I missing something or does the 3d community seem to be very checkered on sharing?
Sure theres the easy stuff to get like open3dlab, SFMlab, Smutbase, some good stuff at sketchfab, and if you want something decent on Itch or Gumroad you have to already have found a good modeler in mind to find their stuff
Not to mention sometimes you can find models in animations or youtube with next to no credit so its near impossible to find sometimes, I get if its your own model you'd want to have private ownership but 8/10 times thats not the case

I was really banking on being able to find work doing this but that seems like it's not an option. Now even being a prodigy doesn't cut it anymore. How do you land a job?

How did artists back in the early 2000s did textures like this in photoshop for games like Half Life 2, etc? It looks too good to be able to be handpainted. Is it photobashing and painting over it or do you really need to be able to draw well to do this stuff?

I am not sure where to ask this question, as I have not seen anyone else asking this, so I will ask here (and if this isn't the right place, any assistance on where to correctly ask would be appreciated):

But when you load up the model in Blender, there are no physics to be found I believe, so my question is this: Is there a technique to get hair physics working, or is it done manually, frame by frame?

How do you go about rigging this type of dress.
How do you place the bones etc.

Not exactly the dress in the pic, but that type of dress with the long "loin cloth", not sure what the name is. Tabard dress? Qipao?

The character that will use it "fully modeled'. As in, the clothing can be taken off, or replaced with other clothes. Do you make a separate armature for the cloth or is it part of the characters armature?

I made some attempts, but making it behave nicely, especially when the character is sitting is a struggle.

I look at how complex this is at the high level and how much goes into it and I just get incredibly intimidated. I just feel like I'm not smart/talented enough to do this. Even though I took some intro 3d and animation classes and passed them I still feel like the high level professional stuff is just beyond my reach. Like I'm never going to be able to make something like pic related. I can't imagine myself being able to make something this good ever. I feel like I'm only good enough for retail work and anything too complex is outside my mental capacity. I don't know what the minimum IQ is for this work is but it's clearly way above me. It just looks so intimidating. I couldn't hack it with STEM which is why I went with a political science degree instead. I'm 27 now and I'm too old to learn. I still struggle with the UI of programs.

Help with unreal 5.x normal map into blender Archived /3/
so I got this normal map from a unreal engine 5.x game, and i have no idea how to make it properly work with blender shader nodes

its a screenshot cause its originally a TGA and the filesize too large, its also in its orignal sRBG format. The file is also titles as "NWO", which is something i could not find any info on

I have tried the image non-colour and inverting the green, then though the normal map nodes, all of the options, creates awful flat shading on the mesh

If this requires a mesh in order to work let me know

I have been trying to fix the topology for a Boolean operation, and this is the best I can do. The 3ds max tool set for making booleans is already ass since it triangulates my entire mesh and I spend the whole night requadding manually. Booleans are so gay. Homo even.

Have you guys ever seen good stylish dithering in Blender?

I found two shaders on the internets and after some tweaking I got something I would try to use, but still, it's kinda meh, requires a lot of tweaking, and I'd like something better and more universal.

How Can I Implement a Markdown-Supported 3D Book for Players to Write In? (Unreal Engine 5.5)

I'm developing a game that allow players to write in a 3D book, and I want the writing system to support Markdown, mostly for the ability to embed and render images within the game.

However, after extensive searching, I haven't found a suitable solution.
Most available plugins are designed for documentation rather than allowing players to write and edit text dynamically. I also experimented with a web-based approach using an HTML widget and the Marked.js library, but having an HTML widget for every page feels inefficient (as far i know, if there is a more efficient way to use web widget then that would be awesome).

A bit more context:

Do you think both WoW and Genshin's rendering can be described as "stylized PBR"?
It seems they both use normal maps, roughness maps, maybe even metallic,
yet they also use handpainted textures, and somehow also painterly looking photorealistic textures sometimes I guess?
Would you consider this the hardest type of stuff to work on?

For those of you who made it to employment,
how the piss do you get used to switching between different programs and software suites that use different camera/viewport controls?

Specifically,
I'm having to switch between blender, maya, and marvelous designer.
Unfortunately, I started and spent most of my time on blender. The Maya control set, is that more of an industry standard majority? I _think_ substance painter uses it for simple things like camera controls.

For those of you who do have to switch between environments, have you found a certain program's viewing controls are able to be adopted in all the competitors? I tried once to get Substance Painter to use Blenders, but it was something like everything but one set of key commands were unable to be switched which caused an insanity spiral of moving other actions around. This was 2018 or something though, maybe do-able nowadays.

Ahhghhhhhh I hate the shit outta everything.
