Talk me out of this house. Haven't seen house or town yet. Reason for location is seems like OK small town but still easy commute to small city.
No Cooling but says Power updated from Pole so Mini-Splits should be possible.
Lots of joists and floor just replaced so maybe big rot or termite issue. I'd do my own crawl but what to look for besides wet dirt to see if rot might come back?
Maybe could finish attic to at least semi-livable additional sq feet, and maybe convert attached two car to master bed and bath.

Enclose front porch for quick extra sq ft.

Had on Contingent fall off 3 months ago. Why?

I was given an old Ryobi 10" miter saw after being able to pick around an old dude's garage, and decided to clean it after the safety pin became stuck in the safe position (which locks the arm down, so I HAD to fix it anyway). Here's some process shots and cool things about it.

First picture is of the electric motor inside...this is the commutator, which acts as a mechanical rectifier and converts the AC power input to DC. It does this like any other brushed DC motor by using two static brushes to act as pos/neg. The brushes hit different copper segments as the commutator spins, and this changes the polarity inside the copper windings of the armature. The field generated by the armature windings interacts with the generated stator magnetic field and thus creates a continuous unidirectional torque, which then connects to the saw to spin it.

build additional XL long 2 car garage off existing one car-door garage. To make it simple, make existing interface fit under existing garage end wall roof line, with same pitch.

And IMO that could look good or at least "like they meant to do that".

Old one door garage becomes extra random sq ft transition from garage to house, because you can never have enough garage space.

OK idea or not? Real prob is Zillow Lot Lines are really lame and looks like existing garage is very close and would be almost unworkable to extend.

God, I can't wait till AI takes over the RE agent biz.

If you list a house, and CHECK THE LISTING YOURSELF and see Lot Lines are all fucked up, how about include a DIY map of correct LLs.

I've yet to see a listing I wouldn't grade as higher than D+.

what should I put on top of the frame to make sure the roof is sloped? I don't want to make any amendments to the frame or posts themselves so the top of the frame will be completely flat. but I know the roof needs to be higher at the back than at the front.

how would I build a door in one of the front two bays? I'm a diy novice and only have a normal saw

Need help identifying a part so I know what to use as a search term Archived /diy/
Hi, folks. My toilet has an issue where it constantly filling the toilet bowl from the tank, causing it to refill a half inch in the tank every 15 minutes or so. I figured out that this orange rubber ring has gone soft and warped and needs to be replaced because it's not holding a seal. Thing is, I don't know what that's called. It takes up the spot that would normally be occupied by a flapper, but it seems to be a different mechanism.

I tried to remove it but there is a piece that extends through that pipe into the exit hole that prevents that. I'm sure I can figure out how to do the repair, I just need to know what to actually type into google/youtube. Thanks.

>but what if you just connect the bathtub drain pipe into the existing shower drain
to which they said
>you can do this, but the tip is too short, no professional contractor will sign that off
I wonder how much were they bullshitting me.

I also talked to three other companies:
- one ignored me
- one told me they only do complete renovations
- one called outrageous price

This means that most likely what I'll end up doing is getting some small independent contractor who will do whatever I tell him to do, but I'm wondering if the guy warning me about the drain was correct.

Me and a friend just finished laying down asphalt seal coat in our neighborhood, but someone drove over it about 5 hours after it was placed and left the marks shown in the image.

I am a novice tot this kind of thing (my friend led the way, but he’s a bit of a novice too). Will these marks go away quickly, or do I need to do something to remove them? They seem much more like dirt marks than actual imprints. I’ve read online they’ll naturally blend in as oxidation occurs and as other drivers begin to use the road, but I don’t know for sure on any of this.

This is a long shot, but is there anyone here who services appliances that could identify these two from the blurry picture my home inspector took? This is for a house I'm moving into in about a month.
I want to replace these two but don't have the dimensions, and I can't get in there until I close on the house. There's a labor day sale I want to take advantage of, and obviously I'd like to buy appliances that are the same size as what's there now.

unloading pallets Archived /diy/
I need to unload 24 pallets with bricks on my property, but I cant drive a big truck on it because there are power lines next to the street on my side. A truck with a crane wont fit under them. I also cant get them delivered and unloaded onto the street.

I was thinking to build something like pic rel, but it has to be free standing.

Constrains:
1: It needs to be movable so I can unload several pallets without having to move them.
2: It has to be done on uneven terrain (grass)

I thought about a double A frame with car wheels that are adjustable in height so I can compensate the terrain.
The connectors would be made ouf steel where I can just slide some lumber inside and bolt it down.
Has anyone ever done something like that?

>Option B, get a forklift, but they are expensive and/or might break down
>Option C unload the pallet by hand but that would take a lot of time and effort

I need to unload them as fast as possible because I need to rent a small truck to get them from the store. One pallet is about 1 metric ton.

chain mail Archived /diy/
Anyone into chain mail as an artform and branch of mathematics? Most people stick with European 4-1 for armor or byzantine and persian for jewelry but I'm trying to see how many different sheet weaves I can make into ~1" polyhedra. I believe that in general any weave capable of forming triangles, squares, diamonds, or hexagons can be made into a regular polyhedron and it's just a question of choosing the right ring sizes.

how to turn this into shower/tub?

I'm thinking kwik and dirty would be hang a loop from ceiling and hand curtains, but it guessing the tub is all sloped so it would be hard to just step out onto floor unless you were about 6'8".

so figure on ripping the fucker out???

My dang ol' original 3DS has paint chipping on the d pad, and I want to seal it so it doesn't progress. I want to avoid replacing the buttons entirely because it involves almost full disassembly and the 3DS is fiddly. What sort of glue or resin can I use to paint a clear cap over the cracks? I'm picturing something thin that I can paint over top in a few layers to build up a smooth flat coat. Or what would you suggest?
