Russia is now abducting tourists and foreign students for the war in Ukraine.
A 23 year old student named Gianni from Tierra del Fuego Argentina traveled to Russia following an internet ad about language courses for foreigners in Ekaterimburg University, in Russia. He was asked to sign documentation in Cyrilic which he couldn't read, making him a volunteer for the war in Ukraine. Apparently he has been enlisted in the "57th regiment, 3rd batallion" (which could possibly refer to the 57th Motor Rifle Regiment) under one "Lt Coronel Kokáreva"
His family wrote to the Russian ambassador asking to get their son back but the response was, that he had not enlisted with the russian military, but a private subcontractor in charge of recruitment, and that they needed to direct their complaint to them. they have not been able to identify any such subcontractor.
the family has not been able to contact Gianni since Oct 27th and fears he might be dead.
ukr.warspotting.net shows that the 57th Motor Rifle Regiment suffered casualties north of Mynograd in the vicinity of a town called Mayak on the 28th.
