I'm lucky I have a half decent park near the hellhole city where I live so I can run. I want to get into biking but there is no place to bike and drivers here have a tradition to change lanes just to run over the cyclists.

Sprinting uphill is far more intense.
The most intense way to do cardio regardless of the exercise (skipping rope, jogging, sprinting, cycling, battle ropes, etc) is to do intervals of moderate intensity to max effort intervals and repeat for time.
For a example jog for 1 minute at a moderate pace and sprint for 20-30 seconds, then go back to a jogging pace, repeat this interval 4-5 times and you'll get better cardio than jogging at a steady pace for 30-40 minutes.
You can do this with any cardio exercises of your choice and i guarantee that everything else will be easy afterwards.

uphill sprints aren't any more intense than regular sprints, they just slow down your acceleration phase which helps avoid injury. they're good for someone getting into sprinting from zero.
a proper sprint on flat ground with good form is miles more intense than uphill sprints.

it also has by far the most health benefits and it's the biggest contributor to longevity. You don't need to run ultramarathons btw, just running half an hour at a moderate pace 2-3 times a week and walking every day is enough to enjoy its benefits and that's not hard nor does it have a high risk of injury

too intense, i usually got pumped quads in first 15 minutes and mostly vastus lateralis, that is until i realised ankling is a thing
i though i would never cycle for recreation/cardio ever again, but it turns out when i focus on ankling (using mostly calves stopping knee extension halfway through) i can actually get winded cycling, and it's fast, and i can sustain it fast

How do you know? You haven't seen any endurance athlete training program, you have no idea. Endurance athletes ALWAYS have high intensity sessions, 3-5 easy training sessions and 1-2 high intensity sessions is a typical scheme. Also any decent marathon runner would outrun in sprint

Cycle a lot. Getting up to 40 km/h is no problem, but maintaining that speed over long distances is very different. Professional cyclists will average a bit more than that on flat terrain, but not a while lot.

An expensive hobby with a very materialistic culture and a high degree of focus on "performance" even for the most casual of cyclist. This will attract a lot of faggots and foster a rather disagreeable attitude.

I do both but I have to say I get a way better high from running compared to cycling. Running is a much more involved activity compared to cycling in my opinion, yes cycling you go way faster but your kinda just sitting there peddling away with running its a full body movement to propel yourself forward and is much more engaging to me. Ive never gotten the same high cycling as I do when im running fast af. Like you actually feel like an athletic god when running fast, and while cycling fast is also extremely thrilling too it just never felt as good as running. Thats just me though.

Cardio is the best medication for most types of mental illness imo, depression, anxiety etc... It just makes you feel so good, being fit feels amazing, I cant describe it. Having energy all the time and never getting tired is great. Your effortless breathing just day to day its hard to explain its just you just become so efficient at breathing whereas most people are out of breath if they jog for 1 min lol or have to go up stairs, whereas youre just breathing normally.

Oh ok, I already tried lowering my saddle and adjusting the angle, which helped with the back pain but on the other hand it feels like my knees are to high. I don't really have money for a new bike and this bike was a massive bargain. My parents bought it second hand and it was fairly new, in perfect condition and the dude selling it replaced a few parts for better ones, like the fork. The price of the bike + new parts was almost $3k and we bought it for $900.

Bike fitting is a rather complicated thing, maybe the bike is the right size, but it's one of the contact points that is wrong is some way. Could be that you just have poor posture. If you have a couple hundred to splash you could go see a professional bike fitter, or just experiment and see what works better. Can take a while to dial it in on your own, but it is possible with some time and effort.

>Because getting winded quickly and biasing the smaller and weaker lower leg muscles is actually counterproductive for sports performance.

Have you ever actually ridden a bike up a steep hill? It's infinitely harder than sprinting. Getting off the bike and running is how you rest. Biking up steep mountains in 110 degree heat is the most cardio intensive activity I've experienced in my life.

Ok, I'm gonna watch some more videos and give it a try. I think the main problem is that my left leg is slightly shorter and my hips rock when I'm cycling.
