Tretinoin gave me beard alopecia and I still have patches on both cheeks. When I first applied it, whenever I had hair I got acne wherein the hair would just pop out like my body was rejecting the follicle. I only used it a couple of times, but the acne persisted for a year.
Rest of my face was just fine, though. My hair is very slowly starting to come back.

i see duct tape get mentioned around constantly here but never how it's supposed to be used. i've seen how people use surgical or silicon tape by pulling the skin taut or holding in an unwrinkled state. using duct tape seems ineffective by comparison. from my own experimentation, duct tape tends not to flex, resulting in it either sliding around or losing its hold

Depends on the cause of them.
If it's because your face skin is really thin and sagging, yeah tret will help.
If it because your have big fat pads on your face thats pushing the skin out, no, tret will not help. You'd have to lose fat in your face.

Having said that its always a good idea to get on skincare routine.
Will help keep your skin looking young and healthy.
Face wash, moisturizer(s), some kind of retinoid like tret, and sunscreen is all you need.
