What's the point of going to the gym specifically?
So far I've only been doing pull up and push up variations and have managed to build a decent upper body. Now I'm implementing leg and core exercises too.
This makes me think how pointless gyms are when I can just use the local calisthenics park as well as some basic home equipment.
From what I've heard every gym is filled with tiktok zoomers, roid rats, immigrants and half naked women. Why would I want to go there?
Am I missing out on big gains if I only focus on calisthenics?

I bought a bunch of home gym equipment and the only thing I use now is a cheap axle barbell and a small amount of bumper plates. I would go to a gym if there was a very cheap good one really close to me, but there's not.

Gyms provide access to free weights and machines that make it very easy to incrementally increase weights on your lifts. If you only care about body weight exercises then you don't need free weights or machines.
I ignore women

>decent upper body
Dude, you look like you're fresh out of a camp. If you want to have that level of definition with some actual muscle, you'll need weights. Whether they're from the gym or not.

Because some of those women aren't your mother?

the main principle is that your body doesn't care if you are pushing/pulling weights or your own bodyweight as long as you have progressive overloard which is just easier to implement with weights, with calisthenics it's a matter of levers for instance but most people are just too lazy to lookup free information online instead of consuming internet garbage so the first choice is obviously shilling for a membership and a PT because that's what the advertisement banners around told them
aside from that yeah the gymbro industry is obviously a scam/grift like most other things in life
everything from the supposed beauty standards in media to influencers selling your their totally natty body and programs and the gyms themselves are not always honest about their monetization and even in general you obviously have to keep trainig to maintain what you achieved so if you really have it in you then the best option is a homegym (it's not like you need every piece of equipment in the world, just enough for basic compounds), a one time purchase that will last you a lifetime, others will just quit and go back to being a fat slob regardless if they do calisthenics or get followed by a PT in a gym

I would say tho it's not all black and white, if a gym doesn't work for you then fuck it, but if you are on the taller side you will get only so far with strict bodyweight (still can be a satisfying result)

I wear a backpack filled with books to make my exercises more challenging, as well as do progressive variations. Even without weights my decline pushups with handles hit my chest pretty hard. I will get some dip bars soon too. This makes me wonder why people waste their time and risk injuries with bench presses. Is it their ego?
>fresh out of a camp
I was skinny af and now get people complimenting me on my body. And most calisthenics influencers I see also have really aesthetic bodies on top of great endurance and skills.
I do feel that my biceps could be bigger if I had been lifting from day one because they're not easy to improve on calisthenics. But aside from that I'm happy.
I have tried free weights before and always found it awkward to do them in good form, especially when it came to curls. And you're only training 1-2 muscles at a time which made it feel so tedious for me.

I'm 6'1 and have started to feel this way with pull ups specifically, it takes a longer time to exhaust the back muscles which is why I've been doing them with a weighted backpack recently.
But even then it seems more like a personal preference, like if you have the endurance and motivation to do a shitload of reps then you can do them weightless too. "Masked mediator" is a good example of this, he does hundreds of the most basic bodyweight exercises at a time and has a great body. He's not short either.
Personally I will incorporate more weights in the future to shorten my exercises and fatigue faster.
