So about 9 to 11 months ago I started feeling a dull ache in my upper mid back on the right

It goes away with rest
It comes back with any kind of exhursion. Even lifting a gallon of milk with my right hand or going for a 3 mile walk makes my mid upper back ache on the right side

I've tried PT, I've tried Tylenol, I've tried ibuprofen gel, heat, cold, menthol strips

The only thing that makes it go away is rest. I took a month off doing almost nothing except maybe walking and even then I could still sort of feel something wasn't right back there. Not that there was pain, but it didn't feel right

Anyone have any idea what to do about this or has gone through something like this?

Mine isn't some small ache. I need to work but every time I work which is manual but not intensive at all....like all I do is stand and transfer objects from one tray to another

I might be pushing 10 pounds of force but the pain in my mid to upper back is like a 7 out of 10. And it lingers once the day is done

So rest = no pain
But to have no pain = me having no money

But having money = a lot of pain

Anytime I foam roll near my thoracic it hurts sharply. Not a good pain but like a bad pain. Like something's wrong. I'm seeing a doctor soon (finally) but like I said......has anyone been through something like this?

Any tips, advice, or insights are greatly appreciated. I'm 35 and not out of shape but I feel like 60 year old men have better health than I do at the moment

Also fuck these timers for when you can post. How ridiculious

I have had pain at the same scapular area for more than 15 years now. It never went away or healed. Something feels trapped or permanently injured there. No doctor or therapist I went to could heal me.

I'm not sure if you do this, and it wasn't mentioned in the OP, but you should try stretching. Like doing the Cat-Cow yoga pose. It's gay, but it always helps me relieve upper back pain. I have a desk job, so I build up a lot of stress in my back. Doing that pose for about a minute and a half to two minutes usually makes me feel better.

Sort of. But the pain reappears from doing almost anything, like chores around the house, the dishes etc. I can especially make it really painful when I lay down on the hard ground. Then it turns into extreme sharp pains. That position seems to really bring out the pain.

Have you never seen a doctor or gotten an MRI?

Is it a dull ache or a sharp pain?

I've visited several doctors, physicists, chiropracticioners, massagers etc. I think I did a xray for it once, no MRI. But everyone I've been to acted like they had no idea what it was or what to do. They just recommended gay ass exercises which never helped, only made the pains worse.

I have this same pain on both sides.

From my experience it's:
1. Posture on the computer
2. Stress
3. Repetitive motion from fapping

I lay down on my back on a hard massages ball / tennis ball to help relax the muscles and it helps with the pain

Pain is both, From no pain to dull pain, to sharp pains when Im doing certain movements. Like I said, laying on a hard floor seems to hit the sweet spot of extreme sharp pain, I wish a knowledgable doctor could correctly analyse what was going on there.

Pulled, weak or over stressed rhomboid muscle that you keep reinjuring
Probably posture or being a disgusting fat hunched over neckbeard

You most likely have a hunchback.

Over many years you have had bad posture, weakness that grows weaker and weaker, muscles stretching, joints taken to their limit. And now it's all reaping.

Check if you have winged scapula. Record your back with your phone.
Hands down along your sides, raise hands forward as far up as you can, slowly bring them back down.
You should see the scapula protrude when you are holding your arm straight forward.

Whether or not you have winged scapula, the issue is still bad posture. Thoracic spine being fucked up.

For winged scapula in particular, you have weak muscles that hold the scapula in place.
Serratus anterior and basic rhomboid and rear delt exercises is where you start. Might be some trap exercises/stretches as well depending on your situation.

Also work on thoracic spine mobility, you have to teach the spine, slowly, that you need to be mobile again.

I went too hard on a lat day the other month and had a strain somewhere, or even a rib joint issue, and got me into researching this shit. Very common.

Im not an expert at all, but it seems like a weak back or bad posture lifting objects. It happened to me for the first time ever a few weeks ago, it started for repeatedly picking up a heavy dumbell from the floor while sitting on my bench, i was grabbing it from the outside of my legs, putting a lot of stress on the area you point in your picrel. I didnt even rest, i just took care of rolling the dumbell between my feet and then picking it up in a rowing motion with my arm, instead of gorilla pulling it with my back

I'll tell you tomorrow brah. I can't think straight right now. Best I can do is weak scapular retraction muscles. Band work or rope, strengthen mid back muscles. No weight to low weight. Fuck this shit hurt for so long. Overhead work eventually. I really hate these 4chan ads, I keep clicking wrong. FUCK. phone posting faggot.

could be anything

>>76250799 (OP)
most likely kyphosis, presents with winged scapula 99% of the time to some degree.
could be cervical impingement.
could be basically about anything involving the spine/rhomboid/neck/scapula/ribcage.
you're basically pinpointing pain to an area that has like three dimensional possibilities for why pain exist.

I've had this issue for around 3 years, the pain got so bad last year that I couldn't do any physical activity. I couldn't sleep, I could barely focus, the pain was ever present and almost unbearable.
I started doing lower back and hamstring stretches and the pain went away in 2 weeks.
Try doing the pic rel stretch every day for 5 minutes and then some upper back rotation stretches. Gl anon

Anon, I had the exact same problem. It's because your brain is being retarded and not fully engaging all the appropriate muscles when you use your hands. This causes strain and fatigue to build up on one muscle which causes pain in that exact little area on your back you are describing.

The only thing that made it better for me was a lifestyle change. I used to be a bartender but I developed that pain and couldn't figure out why. Finally when I changed jobs that didn't require using my hands so much, it finally went away after a few months.

You need to take a long rest, possibly a few months, and use your hand as little as possible. If you can do it everyday it probably will be gone in 1 month or so. Pls trust me anon I know your pain, you really just need to rest for a month or two

I used to get a lot of "knots" in that area but praise the suns help. You can put a lacrosse ball against a wall for massage.

If it's some kind of injury well I don't know.

Mine is an overuse injury, the muscles on that my right side are sitff and lumpy when I touch them. It was probably caused by hip issues. My left hip join is all fucked up which causes my left leg to be shorter, so my pelvis and spine are crooked, which stresses my upper back muscles and makes one side overcompensate. But doing those stretches really helped and now I only get the pain when I sit or stand for too long. But it goes away after resting for a while. Before I started stretching the pain never went away

Oh and another thing to watch out for -> your walking style. You gotta have the right posture when walking and your feet should be pointing forward. Walking with your feet forming a V fucks up your hips

Yo OP I had the same issue a couple years back, terrible pain in the same area where the shoulderblade connects to the spine. Think I got it from heavy DB incline press, the pain was always bad when doing pressing movements. You probably have a weak rhomboid and strained the tendon that connects it to the bone.
There's some good advice in this thread but one thing I don't see is DEADHANGS brah. Start doing deadhangs daily, it stretches out your whole torso. Eat healthy, start collagenmaxxing to heal that connective tissue- you can make collagen rich broth by boiling beef necks and root veg for 24-36 hours, then drinking a bowl of that daily. Can also get collagen supps but I prefer the broth.
Beyond that, you gotta let it heal.. it sucks but you can't lift heavy with a tendon injury like that, you'll just make it worse. You still want to lift though, just light enough to avoid straining the area- this will promote bloodflow without reinjuring it
