I've never seen a calisthenics general here before, but maybe /fit/ wants one. Post questions, advice, what you're currently working on, etc.
To get us started, picrel is a split from fitnessfaqs' video on calisthenics splits. I've recently started following it, my question is when should I do cardio? The rest days?

Been thinking of swapping bench press for weighted push ups. Thoughts?

>never seen a calisthenics general here before
there used to be threads like that before, calisthenics overall is just not that popular
I don't know about the US but in the EU you can find a calisthenics park pretty much at every corner making it more available
>what you're currently working on
ring hspu, tuck front lever rows, tuck planche pushups, one arm pullup (it's more like an archer pullup, I just rotate the ring out to make the dominating arm work more and then slow controlled oap negative)
I do two shorts workouts in a week, horizontal pull/push and vertical pull/push split
with progressions like this linear progress is pretty much impossible and recovery takes noticeably much more time, I can feel it in my arms for days for instance if I do any movement whatsoever, I don't know whether it's an indication of overtraining and I risk injuring myself or simply the progressions I'm doing are too taxing
on the other hand two short workouts (that can be condensed into one with a few reps for each move) is pretty easy to follow with consistency
>I do cardio? The rest days?
yeah

Calisthenics is gay because once you eventually need weighted exercises to continue building strength.

In your own graph
>bench press
>tricep extension
>Romanian deadlift
>hamstring curl
>calf raise
>lat pull-down
>chest supported row
>face pull
>bicep curls
>overhead press
>lateral raise
>barbell row
>preacher curl

These are not Calisthenics. In fact you have more non calisthenic exercises than you actually have calisthenic exercises.

And while I have no problems with mixed training, call a spade a spade. This is mixed training. Not calisthenics. This is the equivalent of doing any regular routine but with added dips/pull ups/push ups.

This is Calisthenics. Its still gay because you'll never progress into the higher techniques without specialized setups and muscle built from actual weightlifting.

Also its almost impossible for calisthenic trainers to give a concrete routine. Ive never seen an actual 5 day split using only pure calisthenic exercises. Probably because it just doesnt work

must be the reason why powersharters struggle with a pullup despite all those muscles and shit, right?

>saying you need to weight lift to gain muscle means im a fatass powershitter who cant do a pull up

Ok twink. Post body. Let's see where calisthenics got you to.

I never said it was exclusively calisthenics, I'm using that term to describe the goal of using these exercises which is stuff like a front lever. I like weights, that's how I got into strength training. There are ways to make bodyweight movements more challenging without weights though, stuff like doing the movement more explosively, holding a position longer, etc. that's how prisoners get jacked without equipment.
