in many cases the range of motion is comicay superior due to being able to perform movements in any plane due to gravity no longer being a factor. there is an eccentric component it is much less however the concentric portion is usually far more challenging where free weight becomes too easy for example traditional curls or side laterals

This doesn't work long time because eventually you become strong enough to lift yourself and then the resistance becomes zero

Resistance is resistance anon, it doesn't matter where it comes from. There are some differences between weights and bands, but fundamentally, if you are consistent and have some sort of progressive overload, you will gain strength and muscle mass.
What you use as resistance doesn't really matter.
