A single, continuous set taken to momentary muscular failure inroads more efficiently and deeply, resulting in a higher intensity of effort and far greater time efficiency than multiple short, disjointed sets of the same exercise.
With Multiple sets, you are retracing the same motor unit recruitment sequence, not providing any additional stimulus for growth; instead, you're only increasing the exercise volume and the demands on your body's limited resources for recovery and adaptation.

how come then, that greasing the groove is the most effective way to increase reps/strength on an excercise?

Because it causes neurological adaptations and provides technical reinforcement of the exercise. That's largely why powerlifters and weightlifters lift more relative to their size than bodybuilders

I've had better results doing one set than any routine I've tried in 17 years of lifting, and I've tried all strength routines. I can't speak for bodybuilding, but I look better than ever too. Not glycogen bloat but solid dense muscle, I'm getting bigger all over though. It doesn't help with endurance, I take a day to do endurance focused exercises. Weights shouldn't be used for endurance anyway, you're crossing into crossfit retardation if you think weightlifting volume equates to real endurance training and should actually try running a mile nonstop. Endurance training has to be endurance focused.
