Been wearing my toe shoes for a couple weeks now. It definitely feels more intense walking, especially up and down hills and non flat areas. My calves used to hurt after awhile, but not anymore. Toes spread out more than they've done before

Overall really enjoying them, even though these are cheap knockoffs. Going to get some vibrams soon and ill be wearing them as my everyday shoe

Vibrams are pretty great, been using for a few years. Been hiking with em too in the alps. But i wouldn't recommend starting intense stuff too early, since the foot muscles are a bit unused to such, like any other muscle really. Ease into it, incrementally increase, you'll get there.

I'll never understand how a push for walkable cities got misunderstood in this way. It feels like a psyop, ykwim? Like the absolute wildest version of misinterpreting the idea. No sane person would hear about maybe being able to walk to the store or dentist and think, totalitarian restriction of movement.

We’ll need you to register with the government and we’ll give you a photo ID that you’ll need to carry for identification literally wherever you go. Take this Pass (or other toll device), it will track when you pass our checkpoints
if someone is actually worried about their government tracking and limiting their ability to travel freely, they would be so much harder to track/restrict if they didn’t use a car.

Not one myself, but I just love how they expose psychos.

People who fantasize about hitting cyclists?
Banned from driving. Just like people who talk about wanting to go on a shooting spree are banned from owning guns.

Get angry about a cyclist holding you up for two minutes?
Not getting in a car with you, far too dangerous if you are this sensitive to road rage.

I do look forward to it now. My sleep and mental health have both definitely improved through it too.

Based. I hope it works out for you.
It's a difficult situation for me because she's clearly younger than I am by quite a bit. But what I did notice was...
>Always smiles at me and says hello when I order
>But it's her job to smile at people and be welcoming
>Kinda looks shy if I maintain eye contact with her
>Have to wait for my order today so it allowed me to take mental notes
>Notice that she doesn't smile at anyone else and half of them she didn't even look up at when she's serving them
>In my mind this is a positive sign, but I have a habit of deluding myself
Need to somehow bump into her at a social gathering away from work.

Is there any reason to not just walk barefoot if you're not going into shops?

Same thing for me but I have to give my birthday to buy the thing (which she memorized pretty quickly) so she knows how old I am
I would just say keep at it don't rush things if you're unsure or unconfident. If she gets comfortable with you she'll let you know pretty much. That's my strategy at least

I walk all the time, but not to buy things. Inevitably the stores closest to me are run by idiots and I don't want to go there.

I've never liked cycling for some reason, even as a kid I would rather just walk if I could, but I do respect the insane cardio of cyclists.
I saw this video the other day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBfS4oT1J8M
and the fact that the younger guy got to the top of an insane climb after giving it his all, and yet he was able to casualy repeat the last section minutes later to accompany the other guy, was really impressive to me

How to tell me you're from the UK without telling me you're from the UK. Don't get me wrong, I get it, road rage is a problem. As it is we barely even take licenses away from old people with dementia, but this concept is inherently dystopian. If you think this sort of thing won't just help turn the world into an AI/techbro controlled precrime hellscape filled with cogs I don't know what to tell you. The slippery slope is real.

I run barefoot all the time in an urban environment and honestly, all that shit is not a big deal, nor as common on the sidewalk as you'd expect. Aover several years I've seen maybe three nails/sharp pieces of metal and a good amount of broken bottles, but easy enough to see coming and step/jump over. Haven't cut or punctured my feet once from barefoot running. Now, barefoot on the grass or in a park or something? That's where shit happens, sharp things can hide in grass and dirt.
