>>76262993recomping is real but it's insanely slow to the point that it might as well be useless, specially if you're advanced, recomping DOES work on newbie lifters though, but if you're been lifting for a few years IMO eating maintenance calories won't make your body build muscle and burn fat in the process, your body will barely do anything and will just be happy to have survived another day.
There's a reason cut and bulk cycles are a thing, when eating a lot you signal to your body that you have an abundance of nutrients and calories so it will hesitate less to buil muscle if you stimulate growth and destroy your biceps with curls, and if you cut agressively, your body will have to start burning fat no matter what, it will be impossible to hold onto fat when you need to burn it to live.
Cut and bulk cycles exist so that you can see your gains come faster and so that you can see your fat loss come faster when you do a bulk and a cut respectively, instead of the ambigüity that comes with just maintaining the calories, also, eating more than usual and eating less than usual by itself is a way to train the body, accustome it to conditions where it has less resources and conditions where it has lots of resources and is forced to use them, I think it's healthy to do that. Keep in mind tha tback in the day our ancestors could go on for days without a meal and then they would suddenly hunt a mammoth and they would be eating well for days, and then they would go hungry again, forcing their bodies to be efficient and withstand any condtions that come up.
