Construction bros, how do you get the willpower to go to gym after working 10 hours of manual labour during the day, itโ€™s killing my gains.

Get the will power to get out. I was an electrician through my 20s and now in my 30s still feel it. My lower back is forever shot and my right shoulder is forever wonky. The only way to survive the trades is to pick up 2 coping mechanisms whether it's Zyns and Monsters or coke and hookers. Pick your poison. Either way, it's a shit industry.

I love this shit so much because everything you learn won't mean dick when you get your first print and realize you need to ask 5 different people wtf the game plan was because some retard in the office couldn't be bothered to specify. When you learn the entire theory of electrician only for some boomer to tell you to fuck off because, "That's not the way we do things around here!" When you think there's some semblance of competency yet you're being thrown onto a massive commercial job that's 3 months in already and you now have to figure how to run your PVC through established concrete foundation.

I FUCKING LOVE THE TRADES AND AMERICA SO FUCKING MUCH.

I used to do 10-15 mins of weights before my shifts. 2 excercises per muscle and only 2 sets, 1 high intensity mike mentzer style. I still keep the same routine now, cos it's so efficient and superset back with hamstrings and quads with rest of push muscles, then I chill for a day or two and repeat. I always had energy and made steady gains. Everyone I know that lifts for an hour after physically demanding work has to rely on pre work out, fried their adrenals, sleeps like shit and never makes any progress. Don't fall into that trap and do try and get out of the trades long term

Got a BSEE but quit after 7 years because I hated the tedium of desk work so much and my back was ruined from sedentary lifestyle. Currently working security as a stopgap but was considering getting an electrical apprenticeship soon to get back to making above the "break even if nothing goes wrong" wage. How shit is it actually for lifting/fitness and are there really any better alternatives?

In general run of the mill commercial construction, Electricians are the least paid of the trinity of skilled trades (Plumbers, Tinners, or Sparkies). Anecdotally, Plumbers and Tinners are Unioned up thus the higher wages. Wire pullers are dime a dozen and the work in general is easier than the other two. Being easy and less physically demanding means lower wages.

I just follow a minimalist routine that's only 2 compound lifts and maybe 1 accessory per session and I try to get it done before work. Because it's so short and low in volume there really isn't that much fatigue during the day at work. I wouldn't have the motivation or energy left to lift after work though.

This is what constrction workers on 4chan say because they had no prior job experience doing hard work. Workers who come from the dirt into easy trades like electrician feel like they got it easy making the big bucks. Master electricians get paid.
8/10 construction workers in reality will tell you they love their job even though most if em are lying because yeah im too manly to not enjoy tradework. "Toxic" masculinity is certainly annoying but i experience it in all walks of life. Someone us always trying to dunk on someone else for some reason regardless of social circles but in different ways.

if you actually work instead of just standing around it is great cardio
keep yourself safe with proper equipment, gloves, masks, etc.
eat healthy and you will actually become massive.
don't smoke and drink like your retard colleagues.
the sheer amount of volume will be enough to get decent hypertrophy.
follow a yoga routine to work on mobility and health after work.

>Actually falling for the trades meme
I was sort of at a cross roads recently and needed to pivot out of my sales job that was making me want to KMS. I spent like a week researching each trade that interested me but the one thing they all had in common was 30-40+ year olds basically saying their body is shot to shit. Like A LOT of them. While yes they were probably jackasses lifting improperly theres still so much risk that i'm not willing to deal with and even if I managed to avoid the big issues i'm sure i'd get nagging pain in my 40s basically no matter what. I want to enjoy being alive. Going into nursing instead after a 2 year program I'll be an RN and do travel nursing going across the country and making bank taking care of geriatrics with a 3 day work week. Bosh.

Forklift drivers usually don't just drive a forklift. They do a mix of manual labouring and driving a forklift. Sometimes that manual labouring is pretty easy though. But it doesn't pay well compared to most other machinery operators, eg construction machinery, driving a big truck, etc. At least from the ad listings I've seen, driving something like an excavator pays a few more dollars an hour.

all trades can make good or bad money it depends entirely on where you're doing it and who for
it is an exercise in avoiding ruining your body though
>>76272424
the main issue in trades is carcinogens, fumes, and vibration because you can avoid if not outright eliminate the other hazards
while you can wear a respirator, and be called a faggot, you can't practically totally shield yourself or your skin
there really is very little you can do to mitigate vibrational harm
