I'm stuck between getting a treadmill, a rowing machine, or a boxing bag. All three have major advantages, I mostly want it for cardio, everything else is bonus. I was almost going to get an air bike, but realised I'll likely never need to ride fast irl. What would you choose? Or something else completely?

Boxing bag, go rooning instead of buying a treadmill unless you live in a major warzone shithole you should find somewhere to run laps

neither. they take up space and you'll try to sell them after a year once they keep getting in the way. cardio is free or just go to a gym

It's winter here, very wet, closest gym is 40 mins, so I want something to do at home. Boxing bag is the cheapest option, and will possibly help me defend myself at one point

Rowing machine, it's full body. Boxing bag is cool but you need to get trained or you'll just give yourself horrible bad habits that won't help you in a fight ever.

It wont, bag work is mostly to build up stamina and improve your coordination and technique, or build up/gauge your power if you have a heavy/uppercut bag
Maybe you'll learn to pack a decisive punch but you have 0 mobility or practical technique or reaction timing compared to actually training contact sports
Just run, unless it's -2 celsius

What is "air bike"? Do you mean e bike? I suggest you get one of those, they are fun as hell whereas cardio machines are excruciating. You will do far more of the thing you find fun

A treadmill is good for burning off fat, if you stay in Zone 2.
I got one off craigslist for $200 - can incline to 10 degrees.
Along with a projector I do an hour every day - I just roll out of bed, watch a TV series and hardly notice it.
I lost 27kg doing this over 2 years with no muscle loss.

You have to run like an hour a day 5 days a week for a month to lose a couple pounds fat
Cardio machines are just terrible. There's a reason no one uses them long. Find some real world physical activity you enjoy instead.

Treadmill is superior for a couple reasons imo:
Run/walk too fast: hit headpiece
Run/walk too slow: fall off.

What I am saying is that the treadmill keeps you at a consistent and stable pace with instant visual feedback for the entire duration of the training session, which means it's easier and more precisely calculate oxygen consumption and caloric burn with some equations:

Oxygen consumption:

VO2 (ML/KG/MIN) = (0.1 x speed[MPH]) + (1.8 x speed[MPH] x incline) + 3.5

Calories:
VO2 x weight in kg รท 1000 x 5

And if you know your VO2 max you can take your working VO2 and calculate what percentage of that VO2 max you are training at

Sorry I'm restarted the speed needs to be converted from mph to meters per minute and you need the incline in decimal format.

MPH to M/minute conversion= mph x 26.82

It's not running, brisk walking - for my optimal fat burning rate I do 4.5kmh for 1/2 hr at 10 degrees, then 1/2 hr at 6 degrees.

I do it everyday - along with 4 days of weight training.

Since I lost the weight it has stayed off - it doesn't yoyo.
I eat maintenance calories - I am not hungry.

I have tried exercise bikes and elliptical machines. Treadmill was the best for me.

it makes it easy to do also if its right there. Many people treadmill is in some room they never go in, but if its right next to your desk and bed and you have to look at it all day you will probably do some walking when you are bored and you can put on some 20 minute youtube video or a movie or some anime. Im thinking about getting a treadmill and a standing desk but i like having to leave the house to run as i never really leave

I use the box room (office/gym equipment) and fold it away after.
I walk in the woods near my house too, but too many mosquitos in Summer and mud in the Winter.
I have no excuse not to do it now.
