Skincare is a scam. They create the problems and then sell you a cure. I've played that game and you chase problems around buying another serum to deal with the issues the last one gave you forever.

The best skincare is a good diet, regular exercise, and showering. Rinse your face when you get sweaty, wash your hands regularly, and shower twice daily in warm-cool water.

Some people just have shittier quality skin. They might need to add an extra product or two to address specific issues, but for the most part, you can probably get away with decent but not crazy expensive stuff like CeraVe off the shelf at Walmart. Just the basic AM clean, moisturize, sunscreen and PM clean and moisturize is more than plenty for most folks. And then the obvious consistent lifestyle choices like hydration, diet, exercise, and sleep and going to be pulling like half the weight honestly. The only other thing I add is 2 types of toner because I have really pronounced combination skin, my forehead gets super dry and my nose and cheeks get super oily. I've gotten little trial sets that add in extra stuff like serums and retinols and stuff, and I wasn't super impressed by them. They seem to make a small improvement, but I didn't find it worth the cost and hassle to add it to my routine. Really, I just most often AM clean, and suncreen/lotion combo, and only like half the time do any PM which is clean, toner, SA lotion. I just turned 39 and people often mistake me for 30-35.

Completely depends on what symptoms you're trying to treat and what skin type you have. This is something you could really just ask ChatGPT to do for you but I'll give a few pointers. CeraVe and The Ordinary are good brands to look at for cheap basic shit that actually works. You can try this: https://theordinary.com/en-us/regimen-builder.html

>Skin type: oily, dry, or combination. Combination is oily in some areas (nose and forehead typically) and dry in others.
>Cleanser - necessary step. 1-2x a day. Most common actives are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, both for acne. Some cleansers are marketed based on skin type.
>Toner - optional. Helps with cleansing the face and gives a more hydrated appearance.
>Serums - basically an active ingredient mixed with water or oil. You can add or remove depending on what you need. Look into actives like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, etc. Keep in mind what you are trying to treat and the potential for irritation with some ingredients.
>Retinoids - these will typically give you the best results of any active. Definitely research before using. Retinol is the basic choice, adapalene is better for acne, tretinoin is the strongest kind but you need a prescription. Start slow (2x a week), apply at night and wear sunscreen every day.
>Moisturizer - keep it simple. Lightweight for normal to oily skin. Heavier weight creams for dry skin. Gel if your skin is very dry or irritated. I recommend anything from CeraVe.
>Sunscreen - you have the choice between chemical or mineral sunscreen. Mineral sunscreen is healthier but also tends to leave a tint on your skin.

Since there is no "indication" specified here, I'll just dump a lot of what I do prophylactically to not "wall" like BryJo:
>Photodynamic intense pulsed light with topical methylene blue
>CeraVe and Jergens lotions
>Adapalene
>Vitamin E creams
>Glycolic acid
>Azelaic acid
>Salicylic acid
>Magic Shave
>Zinc oxide sunscreens
>Bromelain and papain enzymes
>Duct tape
>Chromium supplements

My personal routine is pretty stacked at the moment. I have acne-prone combination skin.

AM:
>No cleanser
>The Ordinary Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Toner
>The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
>The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 2%
>The Ordinary Radiance Serum
>CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion + CV Moisturizing Cream for dry spots
>Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF-40 (highly recommend it)

PM:
>CV 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser - probably going to move down to 4% to avoid irritation
>Same toner and hyaluronic acid
>Adapalene 0.1% gel
>Same moisturizer

For me I'd rather keep my shit diet and spend a little extra money lol.

>CV 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser - probably going to move down to 4% to avoid irritation

In my experience the 5% is total bullshit for acne, 10% kinda works. Bondo hardener is like 40% and works better LOL. Benzoyl peroxide ages your skin though, so I would discourage routine use; combination therapy with other acne meds *besides* Accutane, including azelaic acid, is far superior.

>>Duct tape
>wtf?
It increases skin autolysis significantly; why it's a treatment for warts, but it should have *a lot* more indications. If it has 1,4-polyisoprene from natural rubber in the adhesive, it's actually upregulating antioxidant production in the skin significantly also: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0378874123001162

the moment even the mildest sls free soap touches my skin, pimples appear, yes even if i moisturize with a non comedogenic cream
but at the same time, if i don't cleanse my face with something more aggressive than water, then the pores get filled with dead skin and dust and pimples return anyway

how do i even know if my skin is oily or dry? maybe its oily because the soap is too aggressive
or maybe its dry because the soap is too aggressive and then it becomes oily to offset the stripping of the oil?

i use some kind of acid-based exfoliant cleanser that has a bit of grittiness and it seems to do a good job of scraping off the dead skin keeping it looking clear. never had to use anything like that my whole life until now.

make sure you superfat your soap when you're making it, duck fat is best but most bird fats work well. Pig and beef fats always dry me out.

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

My current routine is

Morning
>Cleanser
>Vit C
>Moisturiser
>Sunscreen

Night
>Cleanser
>Retinol cream
>Moisturiser

That's for my face, for my body I just use moisturiser once daily.

better than nothing desu, if thats your

The suncreen is already sealing in the vit C serum , the moisturizer in the middle is doing basically nothing and you're adding a second heavy cream in there. Regardless of the benefits , these are STILL creams of made of various chemicals, why introduce more than you need?

It doesn't sound like much but it adds up if you're doing this day in and out.
