Learn to backstroke really well. It's the best way to swim when endurance is needed. You can basically do it forever if you have mediocre buoyancy

that's a very good question. if i came to europe from north africa, i'd 100% go to Germany. social benefits there are higher than minimum wage in most of southern europe. it's also much easier to get there, than get to the UK. Only reason i could think of to go to the UK would be already having friends and family there

I looked into it because I was actually curious about swimming it. You cant simply do it you need to get in contact with a british company who will get your health checked in england (no matter where you are from) and there are certain requirements like swimming experience ect. Then if everything is good you pay 3k € and you will get a date set (you have almost no say in the matter because the channel is one of the most crowded shipping lanes in the world). If everything is good you will be accompanied by a crew of 3 with a small boat. And its only an offical crossing if you DONT wear a wersuit you you need to slobber yourself up in grease to not freeze to death. Overall you are ~9k€ down and you feel miserable to whole fucking way. But you get a nice certificate.
