I have a cheap amazfit, looks great and very practical for running. I also use it to track my sleep. Lifechanger, can only recommend it. Not super accurate, but an indicator, it's more about tracking fluctuations than taking precise data

No they absolutely are not. You already own a smartphone, you should've just bought an armband to slot it into while you run. No need to CONSOOM another step counter that also inaccurately monitors your heart rate as if you do anything with that data you retard.

My wife got me a cheap one for Christmas. It's kind of a cool novelty and I've been using it to help monitor my calorie count for the day (using it with a grain of salt as I understand they can be off by like 20%). I think most of its value comes from just gamifying fitness. Having something tell me that I'm hitting 10k steps a day is a nice little boost of seratonin that serves as a little reward for doing it.

I like using it to keeps track of sleep, and having a record of your exercise has always been useful and this just automises it.

Burning calories isn't the only goal of exercise though.
Calorie restriction happens in the kitchen, lifting weights increases strength.
I'm not saying walking is bad btw but walking for 4 hours instead of eating fewer calories seems like a serious waste of your life. The worst advice people have internalized about weight loss is that you do it via exercise.

Believe it or not walking doesn't mean you're not doing anything productive during the walk. I answer work calls while walking. Its about staying active throughout the day and not sitting around idle.

Useful but not essential.
I mainly use it for runs and HIIT which is nice for the cardio zones and to see that my cardio is shit tier. BB squats are surprisingly intense for the heart.

A year has 31,536,000 seconds, so to take 6,665,553 steps on a single pair of legs you'd have to take a step every 4.73 seconds; according to google it takes between 0.6 and 1 second on average to take a step, so to accomplish what you claim you'd have to take a step, rest for at most 4.1 seconds and then take another, and you'd have to do this for a year straight without sleeping. Yeah this is physically impossible, I don't care about your fake-ass (((proof))).

I got an older Mi band from my dad, as he upgraded to a Huawei watch. As the other (>>76290250) Anon said, it's basically gamifying fitness. I don't trust the data much, but it certainly got me to do more cardio.

Sleep tracking tech isn't the best yet, but I do find it to be rather accurate for myself, so it is another datum for me to keep myself on track, and it makes me think about how I actually feel. Before I would rarely think about it and just drudge along.

I've reviewed a few studies testing these shits... There's a lot of variability on different watch brands. I'd suggest Garmin, Withings and Polar. Apple, Samsung, Honor etc. are good enough though.

Great if you like to ROON, enough accurate distance traveled / time.


>HR
Quite useful to track on workouts, most +100 € sport watches have relatively good heart rate tracking. Not that useful on lifting tho, but good in general to track resting HR and general HR during the day.

>Sleep tracking
Most high-end watches actually can track sleep very well and quality of it good enough, it gives valuable data of how much you're actually getting sleep.

>HRV
This is very useful for gym bros. Most watches don't have accurate HRV meter, but solid enough.

>Calories burned
Great as well, quite accurate.

>ECG/Sleep apnea
Some watched are surprisingly good at tracking these. Not clinically good, but they certainly give data which can be used clinically.

I got a garmin wearable and their blood pressure monitor. Discovered I had high blood pressure one day and was able to get medication. Garmin probably saved my life because I am otherwise healthy and exercise regularly with good diet. I have a genetic disposition to destructively high blood pressure and caught it relatively early. I recommend monitoring your BP, your work outs, and track your meals. Those items will save your life.
