Lost 60kg over two years, and have never felt better.
I'm back eating somewhere between keto and paleo now, though.

Yes, a reddit meme to be exact. Keto died in the late 00s then was revived by reddit.

No, it's a pretty decent option, all things considered.
A lot of people tend to over-indulge with carbs, and eat too much of that food group compared to other food groups. So quite a lot of people benefit from it because it makes their diet "healthier", as in better balanced.

You don't even need to cut carbs out completely, just reduce the doses.
Carbs are great for providing energy, and yet still are "empty calories", so don't lose any nutritional value by cuting them out, so compared to other food group restrctive diets, it's probably the best out there.

Cutting out protein is stupid.
Cutting out fiber is stupid.
Cutting out fat is stupid.
So just by comparison, cuttting out carbs is smart.

Depends on how much cardio you do.
If fuck all sure go for it, but if it makes up more then 40/50% of your training then you would be really stupid to go low carb. If more then 50% you'll have to eat a lot of them.
The main reason why people like low carb diets is because they cannot handle themselves otherwise. They can't just have a bowl of pasta, they'll need two or three, topped of with dessert and a late night snack. This is especially a problem for fatties losing weight, because it is stupidly fucking easy to chow down sugary shit and carb sources loaded up with unhealthy fats like pizza. By just cutting out a significant portion of carbs and restricting their amount they can make very good beginner progres.

Protein and fat make you feel fuller, in contrast if you just ate carbs (just for arguments sake) you would not feel full ever and your blood sugar would constantly go up and down.

I have never went full keto for more than some days here and there, but no carbs is a good _base_ for diet. But like someone already posted, if you do a lot of cardio or work really demanding physical job etc then you are not going to make it completely without carbs if you need like +5000kcal per day.

Also if you go no carbs or close to it, you get rid of most of brapping and you don't need to sit on toilet very often. It doesn't mean constipation or that you are dying, it's that you have to poop maybe once a day and it's over quickly so I don't see it as a downside. Maybe you get to read comics less sitting on toilet.

It also makes evolutionary sense, millions of years animals have been lean as fuck so if we get to eat animals they were mostly protein and since we thrive so much on carbs and modest fiber intake its safe to say we ate any carbs we could get our hands on

Low carb is perfectly legitimate so long as you're not, say, working in manual labor.
Keto is legitimate as a short term diet specifically for weight loss, but shouldn't be done long term. I've currently been doing it for 35 days and lost 13lbs, but I'd rather not keep it up for more than maybe a couple weeks longer. It's really easy to fuck up your cholesterol.

As another anon said, it's a great option to break your addiction to carbs/sugar. Carbs alone aren't inherently evil, but everything is so fucking overloaded with carbs and sugar that just about everyone in the first world overindulges on them. It's a lot easier to live a healthy life eating <150g of carbs a day and a lot of fat/protein than it is to be healthy eating a donut/muffin, some sugary coffee drink, some soda, a sandwich, some candy, and a bowl of pasta or some pizza every day.

I don't like eating a shitload of meat and vegetables though so it's easier to get tired of eating on low carb therefore eating less. On the other hand I can easily eat 4000 calories of pizza or 2000 calories of mac and cheese.

Its because what I believe makes sense, animals in the wild are LEAN, there is almost no fat on them, certainly no human in the history of humanity would have access to an all-fatty-meat diet
Humans have their peak performance on carbs, this is undeniable if you ever did any sports or exercise
Humans also get benefits from fiber, countless unbiased studies confirm that

So where was my view wrong?
