How dangerous is it to exercise in extreme heat? Swimming, for example.

My legs KILL rn from hiking some trails I usually run. It's also hard to eat enough when it's so friggin hot outside.

Make sure you're getting enough electrolytes and keep aware that you will have to work way harder to do the same things in extreme heat.

No, you absolute retard. Cold makes your body burn more calories and gives you faster bpm to raise body temp. Heat makes you slow in every single way. You just have ass cancer, get it checked at BBC hospital

actually swimming in even mildly warm water can be dangerous. you cannot sweat in water which makes it a overheating risk

Because your body wants to be at 98.6 degrees and needs it's surroundings substantially cooler to achieve that if you're working hard. Evaporation can't help you in the water. If the water is over the mid 80s and you're swimming hard it'll hurt, not help.

Dont listen to them, they are idiots. Animals have been swimming in watering holes since the beginning of time in the hottest days of the African summers. All of a sudden swimming in 80 degree water is going to kill you?

The problem is that America is too fat. They dont get in the water. They sit outside the pool edge and never swim. Therefore the humidity of an indoor pool area is essentially a sauna and puts those fat asses at risk of overheating

Your body will try and maintain its temperature, it takes work either way. I'm a huwite man so I happen to be better at staying warm, it just happens to be 95 degrees today.

I asked chat gpt about it:

>Let’s break it down:

---

Step 1: Average Urination Volume

A typical adult bladder releases about 300–500 mL per urination. Let’s use 400 mL = 0.4 liters.

---

Step 2: Volume of a Public Pool

A standard public swimming pool is often about:

25 meters long × 10 meters wide × 2 meters deep

Volume = 25 × 10 × 2 = 500 cubic meters = 500,000 liters
---

Step 3: Percent of Pool Volume

\frac{0.4 \text{ L}}{500,000 \text{ L}} \times 100 = 0.00008\%

---

Final Answer:

A single urination is about 0.00008% of a typical public pool’s volume.

Still gross. But chemically insignificant.

Maybe not a significant amount, but yes your body has to do work to maintain your internal temperature and doing work means burning calories.
