It's not. Incline biking come with reverse progress if you ever stop or fall behind pace. Pedaling up a mountain trail is brutal.

Carrying a 240 bravo on a ruck march at Ft Knox Kentucky in July while your withdrawing from alcohol and you poured your last canteen of water on your head halfway through because you're a foolish man child and your vision is tinted purple and you're pretty sure your gonna die and the heat bulb thing was black which meant we weren't supposed to even do a ruck but first sergeant is some sort of prototype Terminator and doesn't care.

>you poured your last canteen of water on your head
I never understood this, it's been warm and I'm absolutely exhausted but I never in a million years thought about pouring a bottle of water on my head. Why not downright drink it, or wash your face if it's undrinkable, or keep it until you can cool it if you can't drink it warm, or literally everything else. I've seen in movies too, seems like an American thing to pour even your last fucking water over head.

It was a short (for an infantry company ruck) ruck march. I had done 4 times the distance before. I had just never been to Knox, and didn't factor in the hilly geography. My longer rucks were also before I had become a full bore alco and was in much much better shape. They were also in the 70s not high 90s. I was trying to show off as the new guy in the unit by carrying the 240.
All of this culminating in me being an absolute retard 20 year old and thinking I'm so hot, we are halfway through, I just drank a quart not too long ago, I am invincible.
It was stupid. I'm 34 now and in the best shape of my life but I still look back on that as the time it almost wasn't okay.
