I weight 74, I can do 4-5 pull ups but I can cable pulldown 65 at most for 4-reps and with great effort. I think I did 70kg for 4 reps just one time.
So you don't need to pull down as much as you weight but cable pulldowns are thr most propedeutic exercise.

Tendonitits is pretty much a rite of passage in calesthenics, strengthen your rotator cuff and try again with better form

I never got tendonitis or whatever but I do feel like negatives were pretty meh for my 0 pullups to some pullups progression. Most effective is just assisted pull-ups with a band imo.

They did help me I feel
I went from absolutely 0 pullups to now 4ish (altho I'm completely stuck now at 4...)
However before doing negatives I followed the progression I found on reddit and did scapular pulls and arch hangs first, maybe that helped not fucking myself up too badly?

where did you read this retarded advice? complete bullshit, what would even be the point of negatives if you can already pull your own weight?

yeah that happens when you're weak and begin training, rest and repeat

if you can lower yourself slowly doing negatives its fine and you can keep doing them, if you just drop like dead weight you might be better off trying inverted rows or something like that if you want to keep it bodyweight only

Slow negative and isometric (>30s for each) are the single best way to increase tendon strength. Only a complete retard would argue against them
