>>76296759 (OP)No, because both sides were an equal gamble, so there's no telling who the bad genes came from.
Physical genes are pretty solid on both sides, no genetic health issues that aren't easily manageable or negated with lifestyle. Both sides are taller than average and well-built. The longevity gene is there, because the women tend to live long, it's not uncommon for them to live into their 90s. A lot of the men from past generations on both sides didn't make it to 70, but much of that is because they ate like shit, didn't exercise at all, got drunk every day, and smoked 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day for most of their lives (apparently this was common in the 1950s-1980s, because a pack of Marlboros was like $0.25-0.50 and you could light up anywhere).
Other genes are a crapshoot. Both sides have people who became licensed professionals, successful business owners, and union workers with sweet pensions who never had to work too hard. Both sides also have alcoholics, drug addicts, and people who wound up in the nuthouse.
I'm extremely grateful, and I consider myself very lucky that my mental genes are moderately shit but my physical genes are pretty good. I know people who come from families where shit like diabetes is more or less a given, and they had to start getting screened for genetic cancers as early as 25. I would take the genetic predisposition toward alcoholism and lunacy any day.
