30% were overweight but not obese
42% were obese

a) What do you think the numbers are up to now?
b) What is the solution to this problem? At some point surely the country just won't be able to basically function any more. Like when 80% of the country has limited mobility.

a) probably around the same or a bit higher. I looked at a couple studies some newer and some around 2017 and they all give the same general ball park

b) I don't think this trend will indefinitely grow. There will always be some percent of the population who want to be healthy and not obese and I think that number is more than 20% but I think that number will continue to climb until it reaches some stagnation point. As for the solution fuck idk. The easiest answer is way higher restriction on the production of unhealthy food but then you get into if that's legally right or not and blah blah blah

You don't need to restrict the manufacturing of ultra-processed "food" and fast food. You can just raise their prices, create regulations to define limits on the quantity of ingredients such as sugars, fat and sodium and maybe create advertisement restrictions to stop the companies from making kids addicted to their products.
