>cut starts at 200lbs
>Visible abs, look amazing with a pump
>cut nearing 170lbs
>Still have visible abs without any grand change in physique or body composition. Bench strength went down by 20lbs but could've been worse. Very little strength loss otherwise

Can someone explain what the fuck is going on? How am I losing weight yet not losing fat? How do I look the exact same despite so much lost weight? I'd perfectly understand if I had started from 30% bodyfat or whatever, but I had visible abs from the start of this, so my bodyfat percentage couldn't have been that high. It just doesn't seem to make sense.

Those 30lbs were probably water retention.

Make sure you eat enough protein or else you might be losing muscle mass

I guess so but losing 30lbs of muscle mass would imply a massive change in strength, which hasn't been the case with the exception of bench

Yeah but I need most of that water to live, I can't just lose 30lbs of water
