/fit/ is used to believing that low percentage bf implies a lot of muscle, which is not true. %bf is merely a ratio of fat to muscle - it says nothing of how much muscle you actually have.

Your abs are not some magic special muscle that requires different training than your other muscles. Would you do 50 bodyweight curls and expect to grow big biceps? No? Then why do 50 crunches? Would you hold a pair of dumbbells or barbell in a static position and expect to grow big biceps? No? Then why do planks?

Unfortunately, everyone starts somewhere. I bought rings a few months back after doing basic calisthenics for about 8 months. I can do muscle ups and handstands and other stuff, but nothing too crazy. Can't even straight bar front lever. My leg injury prevents proper training ig.
