/fit/ you're my last hope, cant talk to the doctor or anyone other really cause they'd think i'd lost it
So last summer i wanted to fix my life and wanted to quit coffee. I drank 3-4 coffees everyday and had terrible sleep. So one day i decided to drink only 1 coffee in the morning and i had the best sleep in a decade, i slept like a kid and woke up fresh. So me being me i got greedy and wanted more so that day i didnt drink coffee at all and that night i didnt sleep at all, just spent it laying in bed in some kind of semi- sleep, it was terrible. So i decided to get back to one coffee but nope, didnt fix anything, couldnt sleep and now i need sleeping pills just to fall asleep. For the last year i cant fall asleep on my own and i feel terrible in the morning. Granted i tapered down the pill so now i only use 1/4 every night but still cant sleep without it. I read that coffee messes with your adenosine which is in charge of you feeling sleepy. Now i dont feel sleepy, doesnt matter if im awake for 18 hours.
Please /fit/ how do i fix this, its detrimental to my health

Have you tried counting sheep?
Or exercising until you're exhausted, with good nutrition and no goyslop?

Cut out the coffee and sleeping tablets completely. Caffeine withdrawal 3 days to 2 weeks. Ride it out. No cravings after 3 months. I was addicted to energy drinks for a decade and haven't had any caffeine in 2 years. I do shift work and have no problems staying awake. If i need a pick me up, i have fruit.

Start taking some magnesium before bed. Get into a sleep routine and absolutely do not touch your phone 1-2 hours before bed. The light from your phone and social media apps are designed to keep you awake.

Realize that this is going to take a few weeks to work. And if this doesn't work go to your doctor and get a sleep test done. You may have sleep apnea or some other sleep issue and not even know it.

If you are sedentary as a man in your 20s and 30s you genuinely only need 4-6 hours a day tops.
