I've spent the last couple years reading about and experimenting with diet and I feel like I have not learned fucking anything.

The entire field is just a meme. I still have zero idea what is actually good for you and what isn't.

How do you experiment with diet for years and learn nothing? Did you ever actually commit to anything?

I'm not talking about building muscle or losing fat, I know how to do that. I mean for general health, like your organs.

Like are eggs good for you? Is spinach? Red meat? Omega fats? Vitamin supplements? I have no idea.

He actually didn't do anything but 1-3 Google searches and skimmed what he found then made this thread. You may think it's dishonest for him to say he's been doing this "the last couple years," and you'd be right.

Just eat unprocessed shit and find a diet thats good for you. Heres what i ended up with: Potatoes, Sweet potatoes, chicken, soups with vegetables, parmezan cheese, banana, oranges , apples, kiwi, blueberries, olive oil, chicken liver, , s, minced pig ,beef, walnuts, dark chocolate.
My ibs still kinda sucked so heres the most important thing: Exercise, swimming in my case, i swim once every 2 days.
This might be just as important for some reason, i think my fat absorption was bad and this almost fixed me overnight: Drinking grapefruit +lemon juice before eating. I got a juicer to make one almost every day and had some of the biggest stools ive ever had instead of being constipated and having diarrhea i have no clue wtf happened but it cured me.

This is exactly the sort of thing I mean. There are hundreds of people saying random things like this, and I believe you that it really is helping you.

But what is the logic or mechanism behind this? Presumably nobody knows.

Like look what happens if I Google "ctiric acid fat absorption"
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24655117/

I get a study claiming high doses of citric acid(citric acid ester technically, so maybe not the same) DECREASES fat absorption. Lmfao.

And of course maybe it's not the citric acid. Maybe it's some random polyphenol in the grapefruit and lemon juice. Or some other compound we don't even know about

The situation is simply untenable

I read that bile helps with absorption. Then i read what stimulates bile, and found out that lemon and grapefruit help stimulate bile so thats why i started it. I also had seen yellow in my poop which is indicative of malabsorption which is indicative of possible problems with bile.

There's so much shit going on in the body that for now is impossible for anyone to track. Hundreds of thousands of things trigger different body reactions that affect something else. And news flash, your genes and life change the way your body reacts to things. So no, there's no a silver bullet regarding diet. Just avoid trash food on the long run.

you can eat like 50g of rice for dinner w/ your meat on a cut vs. like 150g on a bulk
you can eat 2 bananas as a preworkout instead of 5
etc
