Eat less to lose fat but also lose muscle. Eat more to gain muscle but also gain fat. I feel like I’m going insane.

No, if you eat enough protein, you will also gain muscle/strenght on a cut. This is what happened to me once I had the chance to eat more than 50g of protein a day, while also on a cut.

>losing muscle mass of a cut

Literally not an issue for a natty, unless you're starving for at least a week and are not lifting to maintain.
Muscle loss of a cut is a roider problem, who hold unnatural amounts of muscle mass.

This is true, but only when you're not close to your max potential

You will gain the muscle back once you stop cutting and start bulking again rather quickly.

You can't gain muscle on a cut

- maybe newbie gains - but not much and not for long.

Eating at or slightly below maintenance level and working out while prioritizing protein will minimise muscle loss though.
