I've always envisioned the life of some white American guy who's been chilling in his Moms basement since his early teen years and has kinda just been doing his own thing since. He's a pretty chill and mellow dude, late 20's, maybe drives a forklift or something for work, kind of an on-and-off NEET. Has a stocky build, goes to the gym whenever he can but isn't super religious about it. He owns the latest gaming gadgets like the PS5, the Switch (hacked) and a mid-end gaming PC. Isn't super gungho about it though, just owns the games and series he likes. He mods most of his systems anyways and revisits old retro games every now and then. Is not a consoomer at all, mostly just shitposts on /v/ and /fit/ and has the free time to do so and browse the latest news of tech, health and business. He's got a cozy bedroom layout with a decade old couch and lots of comforters and carpets laying around. Again isn't a consoomer so rarely if any merch, maybe has a really vanilla poster about birds or some shit. Outside of his gaming rigs he doesn't live an extravagant lifestyle and doesn't pay rent, so he's got a shit ton of savings. Invests for his retirement and is gonna inherit the home anyways. Doesn't care much for girls and meditates every now and then, mostly just goons.

As a kid I've always been so enthralled about that lifestyle and I'm envious when I come across witty anons who offer advice and is an avid shitposter because they probably live like above and are big chilling for life.

Neetdom becomes depressing unless you are rich af it is not satisfying but is nice for short periods if time. Have you noticed a lot of the anons with the most time to lift are often the most dyel somehow?

He's terminally online and young. People around these parts tend to glorify being a loser as a status quo and use it as something to relate to each other and fit in
It's only natural that a kid who ends up here wont realize how much of a death trap that is until it's too late

You're describing me and I've had multiple attempts at getting my life together and only now seem to really have a clear path defined of what I want and how to get it. Upper middle class with very supporting parents (probably the issue, however would probably have anhero'd by now without them). The life is comfortable but it's devoid of meaning or purpose especially as you fall out of contact with friends and see them move on in their life and achieve milestones that seem so far from you. NEETdom is insidious, you might plan to neet for a few weeks or months but it creeps up and keeps you in bed whilst the voice about falling behind in life gnaws at the back of your mind. Most of these people have serious mental issues or hangups from previous experiences in life and from that they self sabotage or keep themselves back from pursuing goals.

All I know is compare myself to who I was yesterday and stay focused. Choose life fren, it's better than anything else.

>sounds like a really empty and depressive life
What's depressing about
>no nagging roasty
>having enough savings and investments to survive through downturns
>eating at home and avoiding outside slop
>no friend group drama
>work a warehouse job part-time to keep active
>basking in the glory of your solo hobbies
And I'm somehow supposed to feel pity for those living like that? This sentiment is oddly commonly shared here

You would've been ahead of all of them if you worked even a basic wagie bitch job full-time if you saved every penny living under your parents rent-free, which is what is described in OP about driving in the forklift and all.
>Its fine until you want something more out of life
People aren't shit and the culture surrounding you is keen on lying to you until it vultures everything you're worth. If you learn this at 18 and don't bother with frivolous friendships, materialism and women, you're in prime shape to wound up a 35 year old millionaire. Who honestly gives a fuck about travelling to tourist areas?

I don't think you understand that neets already don't care what society expects, thats the whole point of being a neet. Im saying you come to the realization you actually do want those things later on.
Its completely on the individual though. You can continue being alone, no one really cares.

Contrast that to a man who is in their late 40s, makes 120k a year, has a gay kid and a divorced wife, a huge fan of football but no real hobbies.
Aren't both of them going to be forgotten and their lives meaningless 500 years from now?

I was a NEET and had no material worries but still lived every day in dread. How would I sustain this lifestyle if I got sick or when my parents died? So I went to college and got a job and got the salary and bought a house and got a girlfriend.

And you know what? I still have that sense of impending dread. What happens when I get sick and can’t work anymore? At least my girlfriend gets life insurance. But every day I find myself wishing I just remained a NEET, didn’t cave to the outward societal peer pressure, or listen to anyone who says it’s a miserable existence. It’s actually the dream life, and the grass isn’t greener in society. If I could, I would go back and be happy with my life. That’s the decision I should have made 8 years ago.

I've exhausted my nerdy hobbies, done all the /sig/ reading, found God, lost him, found him again but made a deal with the Devil, skeeted around for some tail, tried to keep my mind occupied, and it fucking sucks. I love when NEETs go
>I enjoy being a NEET because I can focus on my hobbies.
Bitch, your hobby is some obscure autistic interest like how books were sewn together in 6th century AD Vietnam. And you get fucking assmad that people don't wanna listen to you give entire YouTube essay speeches over 1 question. If you're that autistic to where you cannot function IRL, then sure. Maybe it's better.

The divorce-raped man with a single mindfucked troon offspring is the bigger loser than the NEET. They both have no legacy, but at least the NEET got to enjoy vidya and freedom during his best years.
That said, the successful parent handily beats both of the above, so that's what you should aim for.

I do NOT care about my career at all, I know I should but it's just not happening. As long as my job is stable and I can save some money every month I'm cool. What I care about i my free time and how tired I am to do the shit I want to do.

you mean there is no difference between watching your kids and grandkids grow, dying surrounded by a loving family, vs growing old alone, have nothing to look for, while your body and mind degrades every day, dying being taken care by some unmotivated, underpaid migrant worker
