That's only true if you have bad frame frame to begin with (narrow clavicles and high trap insertions), if you have good frame (broad clavicles and preferably lower but also mid trap insertions) then you ought to train your traps.

wrestled in high school and never stop training my neck

That with a heavy emphasis on pulling work with dabbling in farmer carries, shrugs and upright rows give me enough traps for the rest of my life without ever focusing on them again

you're good man, most guys out there have neglected rear delts. Good thing is it's a relatively small muscle, won't take long to grow if you start hitting them. Do some rear delt flyes, face pulls or y-raises, godspeed

Overhead shrugs are the only thing that works for me aswell. After those I can get normal shrugs to connect but not without. Mind muscle connection works in mysterious ways.
