Are treadmills/walking pads just as good as the real thing or are they a meme?

No, most walk pads use a smaller, more frail motor than treadmills.
If you mean compared to running, they're 100% physically identical.

I had a personal trainer (not mine) at a very nice gym tell me that walking on one of those pads is not even half as good as walking outside

did your PT fail high school physics? The only thing one could even make an argument for is a different frictional coefficient between the treadmill track vs asphalt/dirt/gravel/etc., but it's not a strong case

They are not the same. Your hams don't work on a treadmill and weak hams are the number one issue leading to knee injuries. If you run on a treadmill, nordic curls are a must.

ok, let me try bot:

no bot, the difference is in the most obvious thing - electric engin moving "ground" beneath you LOL :D

it would be closer to natural walking pattern if the pad was spinning with little resistance and u had to move it by walking, but u'd need belt or harness to anchor yourself so that u don't just walk off the pad

Nobody cares if you're more or less efficient. The point of a threadmill is to run indoors because you can't be bothered do go outside for whatever reason.
Anyway here's lust inducing image because OP couldn't even be bothered with that to accompany his shit thread.

This just in, sweat doesn't evaporate when you're on a treadmill. As for your air resistance claim, think of a treadmills function in parts: You slide back on the tread, you propel yourself forward, you move through the air, you land. Repeat.

It would, can, and does. Planes move the air, instead of driving on the ground. As long as the treadmill is moving at it's takeoff speed, it will be capable of taking off.

electric motor in these walking pads - what does it subtract from walking bot? it draws energy where does it wind up?

mine:

it will do sth similar to walking only when u're moving the pad not the motor and u'd have to be anchored by belt or sth and the pad would have to have a little resistance - it can't be free spinning - simple logic dictates that's it is exactly the case

The motors overheat and break, usually under warranty too. If you live in a country with strong consumer rights you can get refunds, repairs or replacements but it's a total hassle.
