This is a theory I've been kicking around.
I notice the natty limit seems to be about a 26 BMI. Guys who are lean and muscular and substantially above it usually appear to be juicers.
So why is this the limit? Because it's what your frame is built for. Getting to this size is 'filling out' your frame. Going above it is building muscles on top of muscles.
The good news is that reaching this level is therefore actually fairly easy. You should bulk and lift hard until you are somewhat above this weight, then cut the excess fat, and there you are, you filled out your frame. You probably didn't even gain that much fat, since fat really only piles on once you have exceeded your frame.
Once you have done this you can sculpt and define the details in a more 'bodybuilding' type of way, if this is what you desire. This is what 'bodybuilding' actually is. Balancing the details and proportions of an already muscular body. Doing dinky little tricep kickbacks is meant for guys who have already built their bodies. Which they did by lifting heavy and eating a bunch. Guys who start 'honing in the details' first are getting it all wrong. First you need to build those muscles into existence.
So if you are below 26 BMI your task is to do linear progression on the big lifts while eating big until you fill your frame out. It should not take very long. Obviously frame varies by person but for most people it will be about 26 BMI where you start to encounter major diminishing returns.

I havnt tested my bmi since i went to the doctor several years ago. I usually just ask ai my bodyfat % a few times and go with the median anwser. I was 25% bmi before i started lifting, i weigh less, and i gained muscle, so im very curious suddenly what my bmi is.

I don't think there's any magic around that number. It's simply the upper limit of the normal weight for the BMI chart, so that means basically that you are (if you are at a healthy bf%) not to heavy and not too lean, with some muscle.
I personally think my ideal BMI is around 24 (180cm and 77.5 kg), simply because I have always been lanky and with a faster metabolism.
But yes, I think that going for the 24-28 BMI range is a good objective, depending on your bone structure and objectives.

guess so
I hover 80-85kg at 185 and find it incredibly difficult to stay lean and go higher
~80 seems doable without extreme amounts of effort
