The contraction speed here says he had a lot more left. If your last rep took less than 4 seconds of continuous effort (without pause) it wasn't your last.

That's not true for a lot of men. Definitely the vast majority of them if we're talking about all of time and not just now. Playing on monkey bars, helping dad work, carrying groceries for mom, and probably a million other things you can do as a small child will make a guy skip the 10" arm phase.
