>>76348362 (OP)I just think that the weights are a tool. You're not mad about your barbel curl being less than 405, right? Why not? There are ways to lift 405. Could it be that you care about weights differently in different contexts? Is your worth defined by how much you barbel curl? Do your goals revolve around how much you can barbel curl? I doubt it. It might be an auxiliary lift on your bicep day!
The iron is a tool that gets you to your goals and it does it quickly. Entertain the idea, for a second, that your goal is no longer about lifting a bigger number. Does it affect your social standing? Do you feel like less of a man for chasing something else? Why are you disappointed in yourself? Why are others disappointed in you? You work hard in the gym and you stay conscious of your diet, you exert control over your body and will - why don't you deserve to chart your destiny the way you see fit? If the big number doesn't make you happy and you think there's another way for the iron and the protein to make you happy, are you really truly letting yourself down by pursuing it instead?
I just don't believe that you need to be bullied to do the things you want to do. It's not like looking at nutrition labels while shopping, weight food, counting calories, and sometimes being kind of uncomfortable for a few months is that big of a deal.
