People often say that, but they never go into detail. What does it actually mean? What mechanisms are involved? If we’re all supposed to have more or less the same body, how can genetics explain the huge differences in progress?

If not then it doesn't matter.
You're not a bodybuilder unless you compete; even if it's just an amateur show. That's when genetics matter.
If you only care about getting girls then genetics doens't matter. Just don't be fat and don't be ugly in the face.

> What does it actually mean? That you posses genes relating to muscle density, recovery, and the shape of your frame that influence your results from lifting

>>76348863 (OP)Bodybuilding literally doesn't matter unless you have the frame for it. It only makes already attractive bodies more attractive. Good looks is a proxy for good genetics. You cannot outlift bad genetics. You see a lot of this well-built dudes on the internet but they don't look attractive at all. Like Sean Nalewanyj, Jeff Nippard, and all these guys: nothing about them looks attractive to me.
At the highest level, bodybuilding comes down to three things: Your muscle insertions, your growth response to hormones, and your ability to tolerate side effects from heavy, long-term drug abuse.
Some guys get gnarly side effects on 500mg of testosterone. Some guys don’t need an AI till they’re pushing nearly a gram of wet compounds.
Some guys blow up on 300mg of test and 4iu HGH. Some guys don’t look like they lift until they’re running 350mg of tren weekly.
If you want to be Mr. Olympia, you’ve got to be naturally aesthetic, a great responder, and capable of handling megadoses without your body imploding. That’s what they’re talking about when they bring up genes.
