Do I need to do both bicep curls and hammer curls or do they work the same muscles?

I do hammers and zottmans in my warmup sets before going hard with bicep curls.
Don't know how good that is but it works for me.

They work different muscles but they are the same movement pattern so I recommend doing hammer curls as warm up before curls

I always do rope cable curls before doing chin ups

Just do them like Arnold with the twist as you go up (hammer position at bottom, normal position at top).

Hammers are more for forearms
If you only care about biceps just do some curls with a wide grip and some close grip/cross body
