I did that, small plates like 0.5kg, 1kg, 2.5kg are 40-80 euros for a pair here so i just went to some gym, paid 5 euros for a workout and stole a few
Stealing 20kgs would be harder, but i'm thinking about it since a pair of regular cast iron 20kg's is 200 euros here. They used to be 100 euros back in 2021.

I lucked out and got a new Amazon Basic 50lbs dumbbell for $15. They must have been getting rid of them as they're no longer a purchase option.

Why the fuck would you not pay that for a gym membership instead.
Unless you are spending a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars in a home gym, spending the price of a gym membership on a single pair of dumbbells or in your case, being bamboozled for a single dumbbell is retarded.

With a 40lb or even 35lb weight, he could do all kinds of exercises at home.
Then there is no need to drive or walk to the gym where people could be using dumbbells or machines.

The ideal home gym progression is
>loadable dumbells and plates. pullup bar
>add plates as needed
>olympic bar
>power cage
thats it. maybe a dip bar too if you want. everything is compatible and a scaleable investment.
