lower back hurts like hell while sitting. I'm fat and working on cutting the weight, but is there anything specific I can do right now to alleviate the pain? just landed a 9-5 and I don't think I'd be able to sit 8 hours daily with this pain level

This and a walking pad. Helps enforce a better posture while also burning calories. I hit it at around 1.2mph and I'll have hit around 8k steps before lunch

Stand up and work when you need to. Sitting prolonged periods can mess up your back. Be mindful of your posture when sitting.

Regularly get up and do some light back stretches and movements.

I've been a fatty for most my life and I've avoided back issues by sleeping on a thin, firm mattress on the floor.

PT exercises. stretching out your posterior chain is really important. when i sit for a long time my hamstrings get really tight and keeping those stretched really helps.

How would a standing desk be more comfortable? I'm not even fat and standing in one spot for 20+ minutes would already have my feet hurting.

Rotate between the chairs you use. Switch chair after 3-4 hours and have like 3 different chairs. Sounds stupid i know but it works.

That's the problem. You need to strengthen your ankles and feet.

I got a job where I spend most of my time walking. When I was driving for work it really fucked my back up.

Even as a fatty, dead hangs will be your best friend. Even if its just for 20 seconds, it makes all the difference. Try to get about 5 minutes of proper dead hangs in a day before work, it'll be a lifesaver

You're sitting too much and your lower back muscles aren't strong enough when you're walking.
Get some dumbbells.
Try bent rowing, bent over flyers, stiff-legged deadlifts and lose the weight.
It worked for me.
