I need the great minds of /fit/ to come together and bro science this. Is Nicotine actually good for you?
Smoking is at an all time low in the USA and itโ€™s currently the least healthy country, was smoking secretly keeping us healthy in the past? Obviously modern day cigarettes are bad with all of the extra shit they add to them but maybe something like using nicotine patches could safely give you your dose of nicotine with out the major negatives of actually smoking.
Itโ€™s hard to find info on positive use of nicotine because there was such a big anti smoking propaganda but I just donโ€™t know what to believe now with how everyone seems to be lying to you and trying to poison you.

well as you already noted cigarette business has changed over the years. for instance after they added filters and made that the norm the conspiracy about that was they were putting something inside the filters that they can't put into the tobacco. and since it it's been confirmed they are in fact using additives to the tobacco that wasn't used decades ago etc.

it's a whole different game now. probably avoid it nowadays

>Nicotine actually good for you?
No but it can reduce stress and appetite. Smoking tobacco is very unhealthy and should be avoided. Tar in your lungs, breathing in carbon monoxide, carcinogens like formaldehyde, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, arsenic and benzene etc. Just use pouches like zyn or nicotine gum.

If you want to try nicotine, smoke cigars. Everything else (cigs/vapes/dip/chewables) are for addicts and full of carcinogens. Cigars are to nicotine what wine is to alcohol. You enjoy one every now and then and it isn't going to do you any hard.

/fit/ isn't, but tiktok and Instagram are. The people posting here aren't bots, they're zoomers who've internalized the big tobacco shilling elsewhere telling them smoking is le based and redpilled

Smoking is not good for you, but it does make you look cool and tastes really good while your drinking booze and/or coffee.
That being said, nicotine is a habit I'd personally avoid. I think there's a lot more shit going on in the US causing health issues than tobacco usage.

Makes me wonder if rolling your own cigarettes could come back into fashion. It would be the only way to guarantee you know what's in it.

Iirc there was a study a few years ago that made a statistical argument to eliminate anti-smoking campaigns, since cigarette induced appetite reduction would theoretically offset obesity in terms of QALYs and monetary expenditures.
Obviously was not really meant to be taken seriously, I think the authors lampshaded this in the abstract. Was basically just pointing out that all the factors causing obesity are now so bad (anti-pedestrian development/completely non existent nutritional literacy) we would literally be better off bringing back 50s tier smoking.

that's assuming you have people growing their own tobacco and treating it themselves.

They say that nicotine itself isnt really dangerous physically but the method in which it is delivered (i.e. smoking tobacco leaves into your lungs) that is dangerous

With that being said, I believe its a negative to get addictive to nicotine, even cleanly, because it trains your brain to get dopamine rewards for no effort which over time will devalue real life rewards for putting in actual effort

Making it more likely you will become lazier

Nicotine itself in moderation is good bordering on great.
Smoking, vaping and chew are pretty bad for you.
You want Scandinavian snus or the salt pounches.

How so? If the idea of public health ad campaigns is for the greater good then the only thing that should matter is the greater good.
I don't think it would be effective, because people would just be fat smoker's but that doesn't mean it isn't a valid hypothetical that can be discussed.

You can always roll your own. I never smoked regularly but for a few months I would buy heavy and medium Native Spirit pouches then mix them, use Raw Papers with cardboard filters, use one of those two roller hammock rollers and make myself 3 for the day. Very satisfying smoke.
