If Lovecraft had started lifting, he wouldn't have let his aunts pressure him into getting divorced, he would have been more assertive in getting his works published, he would have been more disciplined in working with collaborators, and his diet would have been better so he wouldn't die of stomach cancer from eating tainted canned food. He probably would have been able to support his friend Robert Howard when his mother died so we would have gotten more Conan. He also wouldn't have turned into a lame FDR new-dealer in his last few years.
