Beginner lifter here. Been dieting and taking it easy at the gym till I cut down to about 140 pounds which I was pretty happy about.

I've decided to start taking things a little more seriously and begun a 6-week bulk. I'm thinking I'll do 6 weeks of each(bulk, maintenance, cut) to see how I feel throughout the process and go from there.

I'm 6'0 and my long-term goal is to get to a lean 200lbs, like pic related. AMA or feel free to share any advice you think might be helpful for a newbie.

Whats your current lifts? Whats your program in major lifts per week, and diet staples? Whats your technique like, what variations do you regulary use etc.

Ive lifted like shit while hard bulking and barely gained visible muscle so just bulking and cutting until you get where you want isnt some be all end all.

Try benching 3x a week and apply it to whatever muscle group is lagging, i prioritize bench for sure since it being strong allows easier delts gains and i alternate back and presses like bench rows btb. The next day ill usually do like incline/mp/btb and arms, core and legs take too much out of me and it seems to benefit gains.

Learn how to arched bench heavy with zero strain, incline(light) heavy enough while strict to get serratus and actual upper chest, wide grip archedish safe mp/high incline is similar, inner vs outer pecs and mp/btb so you dont have twig arms and your brace is more solid.

I do a 4-day muscle group based split.

Chest and Shoulders(Chest flies and Im still experimenting with different pressing movements. For shoulders I do lat raises, shoulder press machine and upright rows)

Arms(Curls, Cable tricep presses, reverse barbell curls, thinking about putting bench press in here too just for an extra compound)

Back and core(Wide grip rows, lat pull-down, back extensions, upright rows once again. I also do the hammer strength ab machine and am going to try and throw in an oblique exercise while I'm at it, just hard to find one I like)

Legs(Legs Im still trying to find a routine for, but so far I like doing leg extensions, squats, calf extensions and RDLs but I can never get my friends to try RDLs with me)

I don't note down how much weight I move but I usually manage to move a little more weight each time. So far my back is my weakest point and I have a hard time feeling like Im making any progress with wide-grip rows.

The 6-week thing is mostly just an experiment. I know full well that I'd need to bulk for way longer to make any significant gains. Right now Im tryna keep it slim because I have a job in the fall season that requires me to wear a tight costume.

I know it will take a long time to get to my 200lbs goal, but how soon will I see any results at all once Im past experimenting?

why not just lean/clean bulk with the smallest surplus necessary with mini cuts if needed?

Six week bulks are not sufficient. Try 3-4 months lean bulk, 1-2 months maintenance, 1-2 month cuts.

I know, but right now I'm just doing this as a baseline to see what kind of surplus I need and how I feel doing it. I'll note the advice for the future, though!
