Yes, passive stretching without strength conditioning only makes joints unstable, and while they get more ROM they will still suck at absorbing impacts or resisting tension without wearing down.

maybe that level of mobilitly has huge meatabolic demands. If you are using your muscle groups outside of optimal range of motion you are going to damage them far out of proportion for the work being done.
No shit his nerves are cooked. Just because you CAN flex your body into certain shapes doesn't mean you dont pay a price for it

Of course this and other retarded fitness trends (like body building) can be easily avoided by social filtering. Are attractive people doing it? If its only being done by freaks, it is a rabbit hole only the truly desperate would try. Sometimes these guys hit gold and it spreads to a larger pool of other desperate people (body building and running are here). Finally the idea will spread to attractive people if it is any good at all.
