The whole nation has been conditioned to have soda with lunch and dinner through very aggressive ad campaigns, social pressure, and the ubiquitousness of soda just about everywhere you go. In the 80's it was Coca Cola v. Pepsi, and nobody really questioned a third option. In the 90's it was regular soda v. diet soda. Now, people are slowly coming around to a different dilemma: soda v. something actually healthy.

I'm going to break it down for you because I'm sorry to see such a critical misunderstanding.

Artificial sweeteners do have calories. We are able to say "no calories" on the label because they are so much sweeter than sugar that we can use so little of them that you are legally allowed to round down to zero. So any bacteria in your body that gets ahold of the artificial sweetener doesn't die of starvation.

There had been an absolute metric shit ton of research done on artificial sweeteners over the decades. Nobody has ever been able to produce a replicable study on a normal, healthy population that showed any negative effects directly correlated to artificial sweeteners. Every time I take a sip of cola zero I get a headache and a stomach ache.
This doesn't happen with sugary cola. Sure it has "empty" calories but as long as you don't drink it frequently I'd rather drink the sugar.

Besides the other answers that anons gave, which account for most of it, the water here is fluoridated, and there is probably a natural aversion to drinking it. Whenever I go back home, I can happily subsist on tap water, but while I'm here in the US, something about the tap water makes me feel worse, and I'd prefer drinking sparkling water which I buy.
I'm pretty sure they also poison the air supply in apartment blocks, and possibly buildings in general.

When I was young I drank a shit ton of real sugar soda. 4 sports a year and lifted most days. Was no problem. when I graduated college I still kept the habit and gained some weight because of it. Switched to diet soda for 3 years, only difference I saw was that it made me bloated and wrecked my regular shits.

Switched back to regular soda (mostly mexican real sugar coke) and Ive felt WAY better. My guess is a diet soda every now and again isnt bad, but drinking it for a while really does fuck up your gut

/pol/fags do a lot more damage to their own cause just by existing than any jew could ever do.
Try conversing like actual people instead of acting like total train wrecks and you might influence someone instead of just nudging them enough to get minimal results 100 years later.
