Learn to break down and cook your own chickens. Haunches are a great meal. Both wings are a great snack. Breasts go in soup. Soup broth is made from the carcass you froze while retrieving the bones from your haunches and wings.
It's a neverending cycle of deliciousness and nutrition. Plus, women are impressed with a man who can quarter a whole bird.

This is no reason to dive-face first into eating a bag of chicken/plastic. Every time someone mentions microplastics some moron like you pipes up about how plastic is everywhere.
A reasonable person can recognize a harm and mitigate it even if you can't bring yourself to do so.

In all earnestness—understanding that the plastic is bad but just wondering how bad—should I eat these if by the convenience it substantially increases my regular intake of protein or are the microplastics a big enough deal that it‘s still not worth it? Am considering a costco membership.

the 90% of microplastic exposure comes from synthetic fabrics and filling: furniture and clothing

NOT from food

Some plastics are safer than the others. Microplastics are, well, tiny pieces of plastics which does not come from plastic wraps/packaging. It's usually from plastic toys, tools and fabrics that you use and and they sort of grind/peel away by using them. Also green/biodegradable plastics are great source of microplastics as they fall apart in nature but it still takes years until the disappear completely so they usually get in soil where they accumulate. Biodegradable plastics should be recycled via special composting, not by letting them rot in nature. Plastic wrap on chicken is pretty stable and probably safer than you think.
