Keto is valid. I lost about 150 pounds in one year on keto, developed an appreciation for cooking real, whole foods and have kept it off for over ten years.
Now, I am not strict keto, but do apply keto principles in that I dont rely on useless carbs as the foundation of my diet, relying instead on meats, eggs and whole foods. I eat lots of vegetables, not really a lot of fruit (I don't like it) and cake/cookies/pie whenever I want.

Keto allowed me to lose my obesity and to get my obesity and blood sugar levels and binge eating lifestyle under control. Keto allows the clarity of thought and "food noise" that people talk about with GLP1s to dissipate. Its probably not the best diet for long term performance or building muscle, but as a tool to be used when needed, it is excellent when used correctly.

what this means = you can eat meats, diary, and fibrous green and low carb vegetables (spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, etc), with having fruit, bread, pasta, and starches sparingly

i think of bread as a luxury and only really eat carbs when i need to study. i haven't done strict keto in a long time though. it does work, it's just too hard to give up carbs and too easy to just count calories and have a somewhat balanced diet instead.

It's nothing like that. Ketosis is an entirely different energy metabolism for the body. When you switch to burning fat instead of carbohydrates and then eat something rich in carbohydrates, it quickly switches the type of metabolism that you have and throws your entire body out of whack
